I have a 2004 XJ VDP with a Vin: ...G05105, which appears to me to be less ...G41512. Am I correct in understanding these would fit this lower VIn number?

I took my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L to a local auto repair shop to get the rear end worked on. Actually, they replaced the control arms with Jaguar OEM control arms along with the bushings and wheel bearings. It costed me plenty though as the total bill was a tad over $3600.00. In fact, those rear OEM control arms weren't cheap as they retailed at $1200.00 apiece. I was lucky though as those Jaguar OEM rear control arms were fast becoming extinct.

Default That is high.

Sorry to bring this up, but PartsGeek has the Lemforder lower rear control arms for 278.00. Checked for 2006 XJ.

Default It was hard work to rebuild the control arms on my 2004 XJ VDP

I already purchased a set of bushings, so I decided to rebuild the lower control arms myself. After a lot of searching I found that there are plenty of offerings for VIN after G41511. Which I'm assuming is 41,511 vehicles and mine being 5,105 is way out of that range. The OEM part numbers for VIN less than G41512 is C2C21162 for right side and C2C211162 for left side arms to fit my early 2004.

Removing the lower control arms is a major job. On removal I found the two small bushings, that are identical were basically disintegrated. The third large one was completely intact. I used a 20 ton press to remove and install one small bushing. The other small bushing I needed to use a threaded bushing removal/install kit. The large bushing had a thin sheet steel housing that I felt would crush if I applied a press to it, so I didn't replace it. The smaller bushings have a thick housing which can be pressed out and in without is distorting them. Basically I left the original large bushings in place since other than being hard, did not show signs of damage. While I would have preferred to install complete after market arms, they were not readily available and I all ready purchased the bushings. I am still curious of the Ford/Moog part would fit my early model car , which it appears they would. Thank you for your help.

early cars can use both type control arms

with the 54 short bushing you just slap two home depot washers on it.

In the UK I have used these people for my suspension components for my x350 and my x351, they are only 20 minutes from me and always helpful.
I dont know how competitive his prices are compared to the USA but they do ship worldwide.
I had the Lemforder original makers parts from him.
