hi, a new member
Hello,
I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if this is a bit weird.
I have a 2004 xj6 which i brought a month a go and I'm very pleased with the vehicle, but there is one problem I can't solve and i hope someone can help.
It relates to the security door system. On driving the vehicle around 20 miles I stopped and turned the ignition off, upon where the door lever moved to the open position and the door lock moved to the locked position where by the door is now dead locked and I cannot open the door and the only way out was to climb over to the passenger side which is quite embarrassing, so my question is, is there a way to release the dead lock by means of the key fob or do i have to take it to a dealership for them to unlock the door.
Grateful for any advise given.
Thanks
julian

hi,
seems you have an issue regarding the driver door latch/driver door module and it could be helpful to have the car diagnosed with the genuine IDS/SDD System.
in the meanwhile try to open the driver door with the outside doorhandle through released side window, or from inside while the engine is still running or with ignition on, or finally the with the key stuck in lock.

Bear with me if you know this:
The jag has drive away locking ie as soon as you drive away all the doors lock
and when you stop and pull the lever on the driver's door all the doors unlock.
Are you saying that when you stopped and switched off the ignition the driver's door lever moved to the open position on it's own?
How did you know that "the door lock moved to the locked position"? It should have been locked until you pulled the handle.
Are you saying that all this happened without you touching anything?

Thanks for your help
Hello thanks for the reply,
I know it sounds weird but yes that's what happened,
I drove the car for appox 35 miles and as you say the drive away locks were activated.
i pulled up to a petrol station to refill the car and turned the ignition off to get out when I watched the drivers door latch open with the door lock, and then the door lock snapped back so now the door lock is in the closed position but the door lever is in the open position.
I've tried the key which moves the lever and lock but it remains locked.
I've posted these pic's so you can see what i mean.
I've read you can hard set the battery by disconnecting and joining the cables and that will reset the electric's not sure if that might fix it.
Luckily the passenger door still operates so i can get in the vehicle but have to climb over the seats.
Any help will be grateful.
this is a pic as with the lever in the out position it will not go back any further

Thanks for the reply,
When you say genuine IDS/SDD System not sure what that is, do i need to take it to a garage to have the system checked or is it something I can check.
i have some pictures which might help
I've tried the key fob and the door handle lock but nothing happens
And it will not open with the engine running.
I've read that if you disconnect the battery it will reset the electric's and modules, have you come across anything that may help
thanks for your time
Julian
