Default HID light

My passenger low beam HID is intermitently coming on. Is it the bulb or ballast that needs replacement?
Thanks
Greg

The easiest way to know for sure, is to swap the bulb with the other headlight, the ignitor (attached to the bulb) will either work perfectly on the other side, or if it flickers again, just get new bulbs (i say bulbs because a new one is going to be so much brighter than the other one) You can spend about $140 on brand new OSRAM D1S bulbs on ebay. I just replaced mine last month.

There are several "Threads" on replacing/troubleshooting HIDs. I have several photos on replacing HIDs in "My Garage".

Default Hid

My 05 vdp did exactly the same thing.
I ordered my D1S from amazon for $60. Got 5000k perfect. Patience required for changing but not too much blood... Managed without bumper cover removal.
Very happy.

Thank you. I removed the bulb assembly and now cant seem to figure out how to remove the bulb from the balast without breaking it.

Default Ballast

The Ballast is mounted on the underside of the headlight assembly. The square box on the bulb is the Igniter. The shielded cable runs from the ballast to the igniter. The bulb/igniter is one unit.
