I have just imported from the UK to Germany a X350 first registered in June 2003 VIN Number GO6864 (so one of the earliest).
As this is a right hand drive car I will have to replace the headlights with the appropriierte units for a LHD european car.
There are 2 distinctly different part numbers. One for pre VIN G40555 cars and one for the post VIN G40555 models.
These headlamps are very expensive and hard to find and until now I am only able to source post VIN G40555 units.
Is ist essential that I have the correct part.
I have examined the post VIN G40555 and have noticed a 7-pin connector. Though I have not as yet examined my (British) units I read somewhere that there is a 9-pin connector.
Maybe somebody out there knows the differences between the two types of headlamp units.

The headlights pre VIN G04555 have leveling motors which adjust the height of the beams. This is certainly not required if you aim to retrofit LHD units in. . For the USDM cars, the connector in back of the headlight is the same type, albeit the headlights post G04555 will have less pins in them due to no leveling motors.

If you look at this thread in the UK based Jag forum, 5th post onwards, there are details of how to convert dip beams. The photos seem to have disappeared but try a PM to Cambo351, he might (might) be able to resurrect them.
