Default How Does This Come Off?

The attached image is of a plastic connector (screw-like) ) that attaches insulation to the false bulkhead wall behind the engine. From the backside it looks like the pictured disk should pullout a pin that spreads the plastc thread. I tugged on the disk & was concerned that it might break. Does anyone know how to remove?

Is there a pin in the centre that pushes through? I know there are some that do that.

Thanks! Yes, there is a pin in the middle, but won't pull out. I'm concerned about pulling too hard.

Probably need to push the pin MOST OF THE WAY IN (try not to lose it) and then remove the fastener.

Honestly, not being negative, but expect that it'll break. Usually does with these plastic pieces. Good news, you can get all kinds of replacements that are as good, or better, than what you have here. Doesn't need to be OEM at all. I get the hesitation, I used to be the same way, but since I bought a variety pack of all sorts, I still try to keep original, but not very hard and if they break, it's no big deal anymore.

Default Great Point!

Coincidently, while searching for gas line clips in order to remove the fuel pump, I saw a bag of such fasteners. I will search further.

These are known as fir tree fasteners and just hold by friction. Use a trim tool to slip under the head and lever it out. As stated above, they are readily available and cheap.
