140 mph in my dad's E-Type, (back in the '70's). He passed away about 12 years ago without ever finding out about it.

The thread is titled "How fast have you gone?" Didn't see the word car in that.

OK, I admit it, I have traveled back and forth in time, more than once. How fast is that? LOL!

Default Autobahn Safety

I had my old Series 3 V12 up to 125 mph on the M69 in the UK many years ago. Still pulling real strong.

I have been round Donnington and Mallory Park in some factory Jaguars at I don't know what speed (no speedos).

I have also driven on the German Autobahns (at sensible speeds) and seen some pretty fancy hardware resting up in the trees !

Keep safe, and if you can't, stay away from me !

Best regards Rojie

Done 100mph on a motorway once, at about 7am on a Sunday. That's why I now have this sewn on the back of my favourite tweed sports-jacket, innit:

My biggest surprise was how quickly the car got to that speed. Nice...
Indicated 170MPH. Not in a car though - on a 1995 Yamaha YZF750SP with a 'flowed FZR1000 EXUP motor running ~140BHP at the back wheel. And <ahem> not in that certain EU country either. But I was young then.

The diameter of this planet is roughly 7900 miles at the equator...x 3.14 = 24,800 miles in circumference.
We make one revolution in 24 hours which means we're spinning around 1000 miles per hour at the equator.
The earths approximate circumference in our orbit around the sun is approx. 584,040,000 miles..using 186,000,000 miles diameter (we're about 93,000,000 miles from the sun..radius..) x 3.14 = 584,040,000 miles...
We make one revolution every 365 days which means we're going around the sun at approx. 66,705 miles per hour.
We are approx. 28,000 light years from the center of our galaxy and it has been estimated that our solar system is traveling anywhere from 500,000-600,000 miles per hour around the galaxy.

Soooo...if any of you can top that...goooo ahead...

Don't care. Still much more fun to try and reverse the planet's rotation by doing burnouts in a blown Dodge Hemi.

Jim you must cut a dash in the pub on Sunday lunchtime!

I'll confess to 100ish down Leslie High St in the dim and distant past, fastest is probably about 150 on a motorbike. (not down the High St)

I seldom disgrace myself, sir! Today's Saab and Alfa Romeo drivers haven't anything like as much fight in them as the Mods of the '60s, though.

So, based on that, if you travel eastward, at night, then your velocity is additive...and if you travel west during the day, it subtracts. Cool!

I am sure that the OP was thinking speed in an X350 or certainly a road going vehicle.

Much as we all enjoyed the aviation debate, if you want to continue it the off topic section is the place.

Well, just before we veer nervously back on-topic, check out Mean Mary - now she's fast!

I had this thing happen. When I first got the 03 X type we were traveling on a straight deserted highway at 3:00 AM, I was doing 60mph when I floored it she kicked into passing gear and around 100 mph I heard this whine FROM THE RIGHT SIDE and as I approached 130 it turned into a very loud WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING so I slowed down and have never had it over 100 again.LOL, Funny thing is the Jag hadn't got out of passing gear yet and was growling and snarling you could tell she had a lot left but SHE said if I drove that fast with HER I would have TWO Xs in possession.LOL OOPs

Over my lifetime so far as driver, not passenger, I've been at or close to the following on a few occasions.

Motorcycle: Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 & Suzuki Bandit 1000S = 120 +/- mph

Passenger car:1968 Chevelle SS 120+mph / 1969 Shelby GT350 125+mph

Race car: Formula Ford at Skip Barber School = 133 +/- mph

You can get a pretty good idea of my comfortable limit can't you<G>

How about high speed tricycles. Landing at La Paz, Bolivia in B757-300. Highest commercial airport at 13,325 ft. Approach speed 157 MPH indicated. That gives a ground speed of approximately 220 MPH at touchdown no wind. 220 MPH in a tricycle. Must have special tires and easy on the brakes and a loooong runway.

Also have to wear the oxygen mask during approach, landing until shutdown and checklist complete.

Flying doesn't count, let's leave the planes to the aviation forums.

Wasn't flying. It was on the ground. You let in a high speed banjo. Lighten up!
This thread was doomed from the start.
Your ball, your game I guess.

I now return you to the usual "my suspension is on the ground" thread.
