Sooo...that's that. I seriously doubt that a Jaguar Dealer would do this for you, best bet would be an independant workshop...
thanks cambo for the great write up,, i came across that my indy happens to have SDD kit which really impressed me,,
i tried to follow your instructions but SDD keeps asking me those stupid qualifier questions about modules fitted in my 05 XJR,,

please, help,,

Just for some update that the washer mod is still working fine so far with no ill effect. Other than need reallignment which I haven't done it yet since the wear is too great on the tire to even warrant it now.

Will get a 4 wheel alignment next year when I get 4 new tires sometime next year.

Not many have the SDD and cable nycturbo...fly down here, I'll help you out. Its what...70 degrees here, maybe you need a break from the weather?

KJ217, why not just answer the questions and let it move on to the recalibration? I have to do it sometimes when turning on a feature or vice-versa. Sure, its redundant, but probably has some reasoning behind it.

i actually did,, SDD always stops and aborts @ 98% of "Data Collection" status bar,, something wrong with the ECM?

It is a very slow process, I've gotten impatient more than once, but it does eventually complete. I've had mine chugging along in the middle of 'reading' say the ECU, and if the car isn't actually running, it 'loses communication' and I have to start over, so I just have the engine running when I come to that particular question and i've no problems since.

Could anyone confirm/check if there are any ways to recalibrate ride height/set desired values when your compressor is switched off?

I am pretty sure you can't, because as soon as you go into the programming, the system purges all of the air and goes to its 'default' height. W/o the compressor, you won't be able to add the needed air. How do you get your ride to remain level when it purges at certain times (to remove moisture)?

Great write-up/post Cambo as for the SDD IDS taking its time it might be something to do with the charging system fluctuating

Just had a guy come out and put a tune in my diesel van he connected the battery to a very high amperage high quality charger as well as his laptop just to make sure the power supply to the cars computer and his laptop where perfect
Just a thought

Doc, that is the correct procedure. Sounds like the guy you had out knew his stuff

Cant remember if i read it in the SDD manual or the SDD help but it does mention connecting a PSU (not a changer) at all times

The Factory one puts out a steady 13.2 Volts

I use a switch mode PSU when using the SDD

240 Watt 12V 18A Switchmode Power Supply - Jaycar Electronics

In the pic you wll see a adjustment knob. I turned it up to 12.2 Volts
the PSU can supply 18 amps, more than enough!!

I also use it as a battery charger

Cheers

Oh, no Moisture cleaning.. never thought about that. I ride on springs with adaptive struts (from s-type r) and need somehow to deactivate the feature responsible for ride height but at the same time leave the capabilities to maintain stiffness of struts.. I tried with my Indy to adjust susp, but he has some diagnostic unit, not seen before, looking like fat and big ipad with arm on sides which operates very fast (not like pc which takes hours to scan the whole car). We guessed it has limited functional.. and we need ids/sdd to do that. Now I understand that program just didn't allow us to go through calibration as it didn't pass test of air system.. So. I think that stored original ride height is the only cause of problem.. but now.. moisture cleaning. We tried to set transportation mode - didn't help. Compressor just pushes air at some time for some reason. And it goes to limp..

Resurrecting this thread.

I read that, when using IDS-SDD, JLR instructs using quite a powerful power supply, 55 amps and 13.2 Volts, Midtronics or alike.
This ensures a high voltage during any reprogramming process.
Unfortunately such a power supply is not easy to source in the EU and is expensive.

A fully charged battery without additional external power supply would deliver around 12.6 Volts.
Is the suspensions reprogramming long enough and/or power demanding that it may exhaust the battery if not assisted by an external power supply during the process (how long is that process)?

And would 12.2 Volts/ 18 Amps (seems quite low, especially voltage) additional power suffice for not putting at risk that suspensions reprogramming?

I think you are too low on both voltage required and current capacity depending on what SDD activities you are using. Have a look at this thread I posted for alternative voltage maintainers.

Superb, that's nearly one order of magnitude less!
edit: sale is over, unfortunately, seems that it was a liquidation, reason of the low price.. I will have to search again. Thx anyway
