how much should i offer for 99 xj8L

Seller thought it was tranny, but now says maybe not...car currently in protection mode. New tires, 80K mi, keyed drivers side, dented trunk deck...he is asking 1500.

$500. It's a parts car. You would spend far more than it's worth to get it on the road again.
