How to Price for Sale?
Hello everyone.
Apologies in advance if I've posted to the wrong forum. The car isn't actually for sale yet, just looking for advice on how to price it.
I've got a green 2004 XJ8, base model, with the 18s, Alpine, and Xenons.
It's been one of the best cars I've ever owned. We bought her 4 years ago, when we had two strong incomes and no kids.
My wife and I were going over our finances tonight, and we are going to have to sell the Jaguar to pay down some expenses that have built up from going down to one income while having two daughters. I'm sure some of you can identify.
Anyway, the car has been very well maintained by a local foreign repair shop, two air shocks have been replaced, along with the TB and a number of other things.
Mileage, she just turned 90k clicks today (90,034 to be precise).
Cosmetics...well, it's average for a car driven through major construction zones every day. Chips, scuffs, etc. A couple of dings. It is still a gorgeous car and gets tons of compliments. She stays waxed and wiped down with Zymol. Headliner is sagging and sunroof fabric was torn off by a co-worker from Alaska unaccustomed to 90-degree days.
Everything works. It is a fantastic automobile, as you guys know.
I know pictures would be very helpful. I wish I had some before my camera bit the dust. Ugh.
I'm just looking for some general pricing giudelines. Or perhaps I'm just looking to verbalize my sadness at letting it go.
So let me put it this way - $7500 would go a long way for us. For this money, what kind of a 2004 XJ8 could you expect to find?
If you've made it this far, thanks. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Cheers,
Nate
