Hi all,
OK, at the OBD2 socket in the car at pins 6+14 it did measure 60 ohms, on the ECU at pins 123+124 it did measure 120 ohms.

I want to narrow the fault area down as much as possible before I jump in and buy a replacement ECU.
New at present around £750.00 + vat plus config.
I'm going to try and do some continuity test around the unit to see for something obvious.

regards.

Just a note, I removed the ECU connector, put the battery connector back on, switched on and everything was as it was when the ECU had been fitted except the cooling fans did not come on?
Not sure what that means??

regards.

ok well so far so good as for the cooling fans, they shouldnt come on unless the ac is running or the thermostat is stuck..If your thermostat is bad the cooling fans will run even when the car is off...here is a pic of the pins

Hi,
Checked the grounds pins, 4,5,17,18,29,30,54,81,82,91,111,116 all OK,
Checked the power pins 7,10,22, pins 23,24 the ECM relay, did not have power, I assume the relay needs to be operating?

It looks like I've exhausted all areas to look into, and points to a faulty ECU unit.

Eurojag have been fantastic, they put me in contact with a local guy who has the Jaguar software to configure a replacement ECU.

Going to bite the bullet and send it to the garage.

I'll let you know what he finds.

Thanks to everyone for their help especially 912guy, what a great forum.

Well I think you have found the culprit!well done...anytime! Please keep us posted on the developments...I have heard of the ECU failing rarely, but most due to water contamination...Until we hear from you..good luck with the repair...

Hi All,
OK, just got my car back today, a new ECU from jaguar, software installed, (after it was back and forth to jaguar 3 times) Now all sorted.

Just a note to all, check your drains and clear every week to avoid the £1200 repair bill!

Thanks again to everyone.

regards.

Its a security 5 star t30 torx bit. Suffered with this for a few days...

Hello, I have a short question. How long should it usually take to disassamble the ECM ? My garage wants to charge me for 5 hours of work and i have no idea if this is ok or not. Many thanks for your help and greetings from Germany.

My answer is a few months late for you, but it took me less than 2 hours DIY in my driveway. It should take me ~30 minutes now that I know what I'm doing. All it takes is:
Unplug negative terminal on batteryOpen hood (bonnet)Pop off plastic fasteners holding the leaf guard/wind screenRemove cabin air filterRemove 4x 10 mm nuts for cabin air inletRemove connectors holding ECURemove 2x 10 mm nuts for ECU
~~underneath glovebox~~
Remove fabric cover beneath gloveboxECU now visible. Remove T27 bolt securing back of ECUECU now free. Wiggle out of the car (careful of nearby harnesses/cabin fuse box/footwell lighting)
