How to remove exhaust manifold

Anyone ever remove the exhaust manifold before? I have an exhaust leak and I think its coming for either a crack in the exhaust manifold or from the gasket. I can't see a way to remove the exhaust manifolds without dropping the engine out of the car. Does anyone know if its possible without removing the engine?

I have checked JTIS previously and only mentors undoing the nuts on the manifold bit didn't explain how to get to them. I tried once in a rush and didn't have room to get the nuts in the rearand gave up. It seems to me I may have to raise the engine some which will be something I'll do when I replace the engines mounts not far from now. Sigh

I suspect it's complicated if Jaguar has a way but I had to replace two bent exhaust valves and we obviously had to remove the cylinder head to do that. We got the head out with the exhaust manifold still attached so if you really wanted to do so with pulling the entire engine I guess you could do it that way but it means cam removal and all that goes with that mess as well.
Since we weren't worried about the ex. manifold I didn't bother to look and see if we could get at it from underneath when the car was in the air.

The EGR tube needs to come off first and both heat shields
The manifolds can then be taken out
Its set out in JTIS section 303-01b / disassembly / engine disassembly
Just skip the steps not related to the removal of the manifolds
Re the leak, have you tried tighening the bolts where the exhaust connects to the manfold?
Ive had these come loose in the past
If you do remove the manifolds seriously consider getting them ceramic coated befre refitting. It will make the under hood temps a lot better preventing heat soak and negate the need for the heat shield.
