How unique is this 07 Silver Portfolio?
I had a look this morning at a 2007 Silver XJR Portfolio and I can't seem to find any information on Portfolio's in this color. Any X350 XJR Portfolio's I find are always metallic black with I believe an oatmeal leather interior. This car has all the markings of the portfolio; fender vents, large exhaust tips, 20 inch rims, aluminum and chrome shifter and bezel and the faux aluminum door and dash trim, but clearly it's silver with a black interior.
This is not the Super V8 Portfolio which has the wood trim and LCD screens in the headrests but an interesting car none the less.
Am I missing something in my searches, or is this a very low production vehicle?
Thanks,
John

Ok, the Vin decoder says it's just an XJR:
General Information
MFR model code 0315
Body type: 4dr Car
Pass Doors: 4
Alternative name:
Alternative body: 4dr Car
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
Original Pricing
MSRP $106,000.00
Invoice $95,400.00
Destination Charge $1,495.00
The model 0315 equates to an XJR and the price is also correct in our market for an XJR. See this article where XJR Portfolio's are noted as costing $8,000 more than an XJR and were priced at $114,000:
Car Review: 2007 Jaguar XJR Portfolio | Driving
So that means the front fenders are replacements sprayed to match the car (they sure looked original to me, but the car was not perfectly clean) and all the other bolt on features of the Portfolio where added to create this car. I still find that hard to believe as my understanding is the parts (when they were available) would have cost more in our market than the $8,000 list price for the upgrade, but I guess someone could have stripped a wrecked Portfolio for a lot less.
Still a nice car, but it looks like it was not a factory creation.

Yes, it is. There are some minor issues I saw on my quick review, but I was more interested in establishing what the car was then doing a thorough evaluation of the car. Had it indeed been a rare car I would have had a more serious look.
Did your review lead to the same conclusion with respect to it's Portfolio status?

Hmmm....
Doesn't have the full build sheet in Topix. But that's not the first X350 i've seen without all the data available. It is a valid VIN though.
What's interesting for me is the SAJXA vin prefix. The X as 4th digit is not listed as a market spec. Canada is usually B or F, USA is W, no idea what X is. Could be an indication of something special...
The 73 in the VIN means XJR, but having checked the VIN of some UK XJR Portfolios, they are also 73.
Funny enough I found another XJR Portfolio for sale in Canada, this one being black http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Jaguar/XJ...&orup=84_15_97 this is all news to me, I was not aware that the XJR Portfolio made it to North America.

Well, it would be interesting if somehow it came from the factory that way, but it's more likely that a: all the Portfolio's were sold out and the dealer offers to convert an R he had on the lot, or b: someone really wanted a silver Portfolio and ordered the parts to achieve it. Assuming the Vin decoder is not just grabbing generic price data, the fact that the price matches a standard XJR suggests it was not done by the factory.

I think it could be an original Portfolio. Maybe just a special-order.
The vin with 73 as XJR is the same as XJR Porfolio's in the UK so that is neither a pass or fail for me.
Can you get the VIN of that black XJR Portfolio I linked to?
Either way i would not care. If it has all the Portfolio bits on it, it's as good as a Portfolio to me.

But this one does have all the right parts in all the right places to be an XJR Portfolio
Power Vents
Gear shift surround
Exhaust finishers
Aluminimun weave veneer
Calisto wheels with Lozenge center caps
The XJR Portfolio's sold in Australia had the black interiors, not the white ones that were sold in the UK/EU.

If you're talking about the Super V8 Portfolio then yes. But the car in question is an XJR Portfolio, different machine.

2. I wouldn't trust what the dealer marks the car as. One reason is that they describe the car as a LWB model where it clearly is a standard wheelbase model.

Aha!!!!
I have a copy of the original Press Information for the XJR Portfolio.
It says "choice of Midnight, Liquid Silver, Ebony and Blue Prism paint (depending on market).
Here Jaguar XJR PORTFOLIO (LE).pdf

My money is on this one being real, and very rare indeed. Liquid Silver...

You seem to have missed the other one currently for sale in Canada then...
XJR Portfolio is a rare car, so it would not surprise me if the automatically generated fields in someones databases only has LWB to select for a Portfolio.

If this is real and not a modded vehicle, it is indeed rare.
