Default hunting idle on my Jaguar xj8 2006

bought a 2006 Xj6 used, it was a sad jaguar, one not well taken care of, and when it was brought home. it had a few problems. most since have been fixed by fixing the faulty ground system on these cars. jaguars have had some issues in the past related to that. however, it still runs rich and has a hunting idle. no problem when i get it going, runs beautifully, however those two issues trouble me. anyone have any solutions. its a beautiful car. i love the black on black interior, would love to bring it up to snuff.

I suggest:

Clean the MAF and the thermister (red bulb) with the appropriate cleaner. Do not touch just spray.

Have a look inside the TB could be well gunked up.

Clean with solvent-there probably will be a ring of black teflon like material next to the butterfly

which should not be removed.

There is a fuel pressure sensor located on a rail which is a black plastic cube with a plastic spigot connected to vacuum .

The spigot can crack and cause a vac leak which may cause hunting-just guessing.

Remove PCV valve ie saucer shaped plastic valve located on top of the engine and
clean out with petrol while you are at it.

ok, checked the mass air flow. cleaning worked on the hunting idle, that said we still recieved codes on it so we will have to probably replace the mass air flow sensor. so far there are only a couple other issues, (thermistat, oxigen sensors, etc.) which we have to look at more. is there anything else which could need replacing?

problem fixed, first by cleaning the mass air flow sensor then by a replacement of the old unit.
