Angry I did something stupid.

Well I was bored and wanted to change a few things on my jag, I have started with the filter, I replaced it with an AEM cone dry filter about 6 months ago, and everything was fine, then I figured I'd get a K&N filter, so I got the K&N cone filter and installed it, everything was fine again, even the MAF was happy, but then this ugly silencer on the intake tube seemed so UGLY so I wanted to get rid of it, so I did cut it and put some duck tape and other stuff on the tube to prevent vacuum leak... I swear there is like no way air can get through that taping but some how there is vacuum leak and now the Jag has been sick for 2 days, I can't find the tube online so I can buy a new one, I know most of you guys will go like, you idiot why would you remove the stock air box and replace it with a cone filter, well I was bored and I'm trying to get the V8 roar a bit, and after removing the silencer it sure roars great, but not for so long, I get the restricted performance message every 10 mins and its super annoying, I think I'm gonna custom build a new tube, lets hope the Jag will like it, let me know if I should go back to stock, I really wanna keep the intake though, also stupid silencer is useless no wonder Jag engineers got rid of it after 2006.

It could have been worse such as stalling engine , jerking at start up . I think the best way to increase the V8 engine is to modify your exhaust system

Lol I'm looking for DIYs, I can't do the exhaust by my self, also let me ask you something, I'm planning to put a filter on the breather you think it'd be okay? since I'm building a custom intake I won't have a place to connect the breather hose to the tube so I figured I could put a filter on the breather hose.

PS: I see that you have dumped Charlize, she was very nice looking in your signature!

That sounds plausible but it strikes me that I am not that mechanically inclined to navigate you thru your custom set ups . So, I don't wanna give you wrong directions . Also, what kinda filter are you going to put and make sure it would not clog or distrupt your air flow that is needed for your engine
As for the signature , this girl is also cuddle lol . I may later get back to her

Why can't you modify your exhaust? You just remove a few bolts and put on the new stuff!

Lol that is easy for you to say, I really don't think I can do it on my own, like I don't even have proper stuff to jack my car, I ll just do the intake first, then I'm thinking about painting the engine cover haha

I tried the Mina cold air intake, but had to remove it. Caused the engine light. These cars are sooooo sensitive to changes.

Haha, I hear ya, but I would've thought that somebody would be able to install an exhaust before he went around fabricating his own custom parts/modifications under the hood!

I have not been a jag owner for long but I do know a few thinks about cars. When you remove the airbox from a car and add a aftermarket cone air-filter you change almost nothing. Sure it looks cool, sounds cool but all that airflow does not make much of a difference without a MAF upgrade. Also once you remove the airbox you are now sucking all that hot air from the engine right down the intake. In all actuality you are reducing performance. Hi flow filters like cold air, heck all cars like cold air stock or not. A cold air intake system with MAF sensor is the hot ticket (LOL) The exhaust upgrade exhaust is very essential as well. Think of it like breathing, bringing in all that air defeats the purpose if it cant get out in the right proportion.

You can also think of it like eating. Eating more food defeats the purpose if it can't get out...

Well the intake I'm working on is quite different, it won't suck up any hot air hopefully thats why I'm making the pipe a lil bit longer so it can breathe some air under the headlight assembly, my biggest failure was removing the silencer from the intake tube but its fine I'll just change the whole piping now, and about upgrading the MAF how am I supposed to change it with another maf? is it even possible? please let me know!

That was what I tried to stress on my earlier post , at least you see this code after your custom intake rather than see it when everything is OEM and that's verily getting everyone's nerves
