Don't you hate it when someone starts a thread like this and then abandons it?

It turned out the 'manufacturer' was flying a kite.
They didn't make the sensor, just wanted to know what the interest was.

He still could have had the decency to let us all know that. He got lots of replies. I think it was bogus to start.

Hi all, sorry about the delay. I was hoping to get a better response from the UK site to up the numbers but didnt get any takers. Jaguar agreed to replace the TB on my 2005 XJR which was a success after a long battle.
Here is the link for the TPS supplier

I have received a quote (probably from the same place the OP was looking) on having the 198500-3300 TPS sensors made, and am waiting for a sample to test and approve. If they send it to me, and it passes, I'm planning on getting a small quantity of them made and I'll offer them for sale. Based on the quote I have, I will probably offer them for $40-50 each, plus shipping. If you are interested in buying any, please email me directly (ceeanton@yahoo.com) and I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Cool. It's all up to them sending me a sample to test. I'll let you know what happens.

This TPS being sampled, what years of XJ will it fit? My understanding is that this TPS part may have changed somwhere in the range of 2004 to 2008 model year cars. I understand that early models of the range had them screw onto the throttle body and later years were changed (maybe in design/shap also) and were rivited to the throttle body.

Sorry guys, I guess it's not going to happen. The factory rep and I emailed back and forth a couple of times, and everything looked good. They promised to send a sample for me to test, and then I never heard another word from them. Repeated requests for updates have gone completely unanswered.

If I find another small batch source, I'll let you know. In the meantime, good luck.

Thanks,
Anthony

Welsh Enterprises shows the throttle body complete with throttle position sensor (part number C2C20540) to fit XJ8 V8 4.2L (VIN# G00442-G49700) which would mean that it will work with XJ8's X350 model year (MY) 2003 up through part of model year 2006. See chart below of model year ranges to VIN numbers:

If owners are having throttle position sensor issues on the later 2006 and newer cars I hope Welsh or someone will also offer a simiar cheeper alternative to the OEM expensive part. I know at some point, Jaguar went from a screw on throttle postion sensor (which is what Welshe's current part is) to having the throttle postion sensor rivited on to the throttle body.

2003MY (2004MY ROW) – G00442
2004MY (UK/Europe) – G12878
2005MY (LWB) – G34528
2006MY – G49701
2006.25MY (Diesel) – H00332
2006.25MY (Daimler) – H01748
2006.5MY – H06679
2007MY – H11537
2008MY – H18680
2009MY – H28963
2010MY – H31757

Just got mine replaced this past month for ~$135. Mechanic mentioned he thought there might be a recall coming on them. Saw the prices drop from ~$1200 last month to ~$135 this month through Jaguar.
