I got one (XJ8-2004) after a 10 year hiatus
Well after 10 years driving other cars I finally came to my senses again and got myself an XJ8-2004. She is spotless with 46K miles. Wasn’t actually registered into service to the first owner until July 28th 2005. A text book pampered rich lady owner car (I met her) who ensuresd regular service. At 42K it had its 50k service. New tires etc…
In 1998 I bought a 1987/8 XJ6 – XJ40 style with round twin headlights. Was my baby for 3 years. I replaced the rear springs and performed regular maintenance and otherwise enjoyed every minute. Sold for an Acura, Nissan and even purchased a Mercedes.
Now I am back in a Jag and I gotta ask myself “why did I ever leave?”. The XJ8 drives like a dream and I love the smoothness and the power surge should you need it. Outstanding!!. Handling awesome and suspension IMHO feels just right.
The wife is looking for a new SUV or crossover and we looked at the Toyota Venza. After just getting out of a immaculately maintained and luxury adorned XJ8 I almost had to jump out mid test drive as I couldn’t stand the plastic on plastic interior of the Venza. Disgusting is a good way to describe it. Toyota has rushed this piece of **** to market with one ugly interior. Luckily my wife felt the same way and we can take a sigh of relief that the Toyota is not on her list now.
I look forward to occasional email banter on this forum should I have a chance to contribute. One reason I feel comfortable buying a Jag is the outstanding information available on this forum on just about any relevant topic. My appreciation to those who find the time to help folks like me who find the posts extremely educational and fun to read.
