I hate driving it in this winter weather.
One of our vehicles is being repaired at this time ('96 Toyota Land Cruiser; the absolute ultimate zombie apocalypse vehicle). That means I've been driving the VDP in some snowy/icy conditions. It's killing me. I'm in Ohio & we've had single-digit temperatures lately, and ALL THE SALT THAT THEY DUMP ON THE ROADS!
On the other hand, I've had no issues whatsoever (except low heat output on driver's side; see my post awhile ago - I replaced the heater core & it worked fine for 2 weeks & haven't taken the time to hunt it down). I must say I was pleasantly surprised: no battery issues and NO SUSPENSION ISSUES.
It's a pain sometimes, but I love the VDP. I hate that it looks terrible right now due to the weather & salt. I'm actually looking forward to a warmer day to be able to wash it.
Anyone else all-weathering their Jaguar?

I have resolved not to use the Jag in snow and ice. As well as the huge tyres, which encourage sliding, I don't want salt on it.
Some visitors to the UK are surpised at how slippery our winter roads are. This is because the winter temperatures tend to hover just above/just below freezing, so snow and ice may be melting and more slippy than if they were really cold; also the surface refreezes at night with a nice shiny finish. The other point is that because we have so few snowy days per year, we are reluctant to spend billions on gritting and clearing equipment for minor and residential roads.
I knew a Norweigian who sneered at British drivers on ice until he went through a British winter.

I took my VDP in for service and the dealer washed it (but didn't dry it) and parked it outside in 15F temp and it turned into an ice cube frozen to the ground. This caused problems with the front air suspension and the parking sensors front and back when I tried to drive it home. Also 3 of the doors froze shut as well as the trunk. Warming it up in the garage fixed the problems.

Jim:
I hear you! I park the '91 because it's never seen a winter. Last year I drove another XJ40 straight through and the car was an absolute tank. I was super impressed by the way it handled winter. This year I'm driving a '98 XJ8. So far so good. I'm more comfortable, but it somehow feels less sturdy than did the XJ40.
…and I've been through the car wash more in the last 3 weeks than the entire rest of the year combined!
Happy driving.
