hi all,
well i've owned this latest jag (2005, xj8 4.2 sovereign, 89,000miles) now for about six weeks and already a problem has appeared.
been out all day on various errands and on the last trip home a squeaking has become apparent on the right hand side rear wheel area.
when driving it is embarrassingly loud and it only squeaks under a constant throttle or deceleration, no noise is evident under acceleration.
with the car stationary on the drive if the wheel in question is rocked backed and forward by hand (only an inch or two in either direction), then a quieter squeaking can be heard. the squeaking sounds like rubber. there are no warning lights illuminated. any ideas chaps?
rod.

Wot! A name like electraglide and you have a squeaky rear?
Seriously though I have seen this problem before on a friends Jag.I watched while the mechanics injected some oil into the ball joint on the rear upper wishbone-it did not solve the problem.I didn't think it would but kept my mouth shut since they were mechanics and I was an amateur.
The problem was one of the two other bushes on the wishbone and it was a matter of trying to inject some lubricant in there.
If that is not successful its new bushes i'm afraid.
Personally I would put an used wishbone on there. These cars are being scrapped in the UK now, some with not a lot of miles on them.
BTW the wishbones are handed.
