I moved my '06 Super 8, and when I went to shut it off, the key would not turn.
The key flopped around a lot, as if the switch had blown apart inside.
I unplugged the AFM to kill the engine, then removed a battery terminal.
I think I can figure out how to remove the switch (I have a parts car I can learn on), but will another switch with key work in my car? Will need programming, or will it conflict with security etc?

Gave you about a fifth of a turn, did it?
X350 can DO that - or worse - if a strong-wristed person tries to remove the key and the conniving lil' Divils as ordinarily grant permission..... because of P or N switches reporting satisfaction.... happen to disagree.
Or did you actually HAVE it in a "gear"?
Confirm that part, first.
If trashed. dealer work, my choice.
Or first-tier independent as specializes in Jaguar and has the full house of gear for programming.

Not impossible. Not all that wise, either.
Meant to resist theft. Does so.
Doesn't give a damn by WHOM if the credentials fail to match. Jaguars could read titles, some humanfolk would be put out of work.
if you’re swapping the whole tumbler use IDS/SDD or a launch to program your donor keys in
The human heart.. has 'become' "plug and play"... if.. the qualified surgical team and a seriously well-proven infrastructure to support it is in place.
Much as Dealers and Tier One indy shops have to have to operate.
Joe Average? Might not even own the most basic of scan tools? Or even know why it is handy?
