Default Instrument pack mileage reset? 2009 VDP

Hi Friends,

Anyone know the true scoop on whether the mileage can be reset in the Message Centre?

One dealer says no due to the 'non-volatile' memory chip, and another says yes because the car's pc will put whatever was in it's memory chip when the ignition key was turned off.

I screwed up my tach and have a few leads on a used one but I only have 28000 kilometers on my car and I certainly wouldn't want to settle on a used pack with higher mileage on it if it can't be reset.

Thank you for all your past and future help,

Chris

I thought that the dealer could use IDS, I think that's the right term, and reset the mileage to the correct miles.

the jaguar IDS software can reset the gauges to your amount

I am currently looking at something similar

My car has a MPH speedo and I want to change it to KMH spoke to my indie yesterday and he said he can change it

No need to reprogram, Just press the mph/kph button on the trip computer panel

Cheers

First What is IDS, is it within the car or is it a dealer tool?

Second, in Canada, the speedo must have KMH on top of MPH for resale. How would your indie go about changing the faceplate and how much. There are plenty of units in 'mph' on ebay very cheap if that was a possibility.

Thank you for the input folks,
Chris

From that experience, it would seem that the mileage is stored in the instrument pack and not magically reset by some other computer.

I think JTIS says that the mileage can be set, but even a dealer needs a one time password from Jaguar tech support that is input into SDD. And, there is a dealer form to fill out.
