Default Intake Manifold Gasket

Hello to all. Forgive me if this not posted in the correct place. I need to replace the "valley coolant hose" on my 2004 XJ8 VDP. I will also replace the intake manifold gaskets at the same time. I'm confused as to the type of gaskets to order. I assume, the set of 8 (separate) silicone gaskets are similar to what I used on my wife's 1997 XK8? Any help and guidance will be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I have been gathering parts to service my cooling system for awhile and have spent some time on Rock Auto. It is my understanding that the intake gaskets are more like old conventional gaskets. 1 for each side with the 4 silicon rings where old gaskets had "soft" metal. I just worked on my son's Ford and we replaced the middle set of gaskets under the top half of his intake. They were much as you described. I had expected something similar on the Jag but was pleasantly surprised.

I have had quite a time sorting out the proper coolant hoses but am sourcing them from all over. Including some of the vendors who support on this forum. They are quite helpful if you need to ask someone who has access to the parts you will be ordering.

Rancheroguy is correct. The intake is two pieces. A thinner plastic piece and then the larger curved plastic piece. The piece that faces the block is once piece for each side. The other intake piece has individual rubber/silicon/? rings. As I understand it the parts from the "new" Ford Thunderbird are the same and are much cheaper.

When I serviced my valley hose I only replaced the gaskets touching the head as the others were not leaking and were not disturbed.

Thank you, and Rancheroguy, for the input. It makes sense now. I wonder when I pull the manifold if it comes out as "one piece" or split? Thanks again.

The intake comes out of the car as once piece. The intake is multi part: metal lower section with plastic upper, and there are 8 individual gaskets between each runner. These can only be disassembled once the intake is removed from the engine.

The intake assembly has 2 metal gaskets, one on each side between the intake and head. Jaguar sells these (individual gaskets, you'll need 2x), they do not sell the 8 silicone runner gaskets.

FYI, there are also silicone gaskets to the TB plenum on the front and to the blanking panel on the rear.
