Interior Lighting Issue with buttons and switches - 2005 XJ8L

Brand new to the Jaguar forum.
Recently, all of the interior buttons, switches, clock, ash tray compartment have failed to illuminate when the lights are turned on at night.
The dashboard gauge lights do, however, come on. Also the temp center backlight comes on as does the radio backlight (but it is very dim).
Additionally, the headlights stay on when switched on in auto lamp mode during the daytime.
Anybody have experience and solution with these problems?

It appears from the wireing diag. that some models have dimmer controlled interior lighting but the only dimmer shown is the one connected to instrument pack.
Have you tried turning this?
Also you have daylight running lights which you can switch on or off from the centre
nav screen. During the day with running lights on the lights on indicator will be off.

The dimmer switch had no impact on the illumination of the switches. It did work properly on the dashboard lighting so I don't think it's the dimmer switch.
With regards to the headlights, yes I can switch them on and off manually, but they should go on and off automatically when in auto mode.
These issues are probably just annoyances to most folks, but I like everything to work as original.
I was advised that if the battery is weak, it will not provide enough voltage to properly run everything. I can't find anything related to this yet and I have no problem starting the car, but I'll check this out.
