Arrow Interior lighting issue (Video inside)

Hey there,

Just picked up my 06 xj8 today and everything was great (except for the unnoticed crack in the tail light). However, on the drive home I had an issue with the floor lights flickering. Not sure how the interior lighting works in this car yet so that's why I am asking before I try to better asses the issue myself.

Here's a vid to show the isssue:

Hey, that's a new one! I think you're on the right diagnostic path also. try a hard reset first, then explore.your footwell. A reset.often cures strange electrical behaviors like lights, warning tones, alarm, winsow functions, etc. the more random, the more likely.

I figured it wasn't something of the normal! Haha! What's the process for a hard reset? Ill be sure and try that today!

Also I didn't know if the floor was supposed to have some sort of foot sensor? Or if my car is just having a little gremlin

You'll lose any memory settings, but a hard reset involves removing the ground cable from the battery's negative terminal touching it to the positive terminal ...holding it there for a few seconds, then reconnecting it to the negative once again. It discharges all stored settings and resets most computer modules within the car.

Tried a hard reset and the flicker stopped when I have that middle button pushed. No lights come on in the foot well now, unless I press the button that undims the mirrors. Is this correct? Also now one touch to roll the windows up doesn't work. They roll up but I have to hold them. Except the passenger window, it's one touch works both ways.

Haha, my xj is being a bit fiesty!

Another hard reset is justified then. I'd seriously consider the battery's condition also...have it checked out at a local store...if its old, or even close to being below its rated capacity, have it replaced. Symptoms are classic.

The windows should be easy to fix.

Push and hold down the driver's window button until it gets to the bottom. Then continue holding for about 3 seconds longer. Raise the window and when it gets to the closed position continue holding the button up for an additional 3 seconds. Repeat for all of the other windows. Save you from searching out the thread on reprogramming the windows.

Sweet the reset fixed the lighting issue! and thanks esloser! I actually read the manual and discovered the fix for the auto up! I guess checking the forum would have been a tad simpler
