Question Jaguar free scheduled Maintenance Question

My 04 XJ8 has about 83000 mile on it. I was looking on TOPIx and saw that the previous owner(s) did not take the vehicle in for its 10000, 20000, 30000 and 40000 mile services. Looking at the service record handbook, these are important services. My question is: Will Jaguar perform these "Free" services for me even though they were missed, even when the vehicle is so much delinquent when it comes to how many miles over that service requirement was to be met?

Good question.

Have you tried calling Jaguar North America?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
(sorry, I had to laugh)

Unless the services are considered a safety recall, NOTHING is free from the dealer once you are out of warranty.

Well, there is the alternative viewpoint that the chits/coupons in the warranty book represent paid entitlements which have never been claimed.

As a matter of fact, one of the internal printouts uses the terminology "unclaimed service operations".

AFAIK there has never been free service as standard, it would have to be part of a sales deal, and paid up front or included in the "deal". Certainly that is the case here in the UK, however US practice may be different.

What I DO know is that failure to get the car serviced at the correct intervals and with the correct materials will negate the warranty. However absence of a record in the book is not necessarily proof no work has been done, as there could be an electronic record somewhere.

The website "TOPIx", I put my VIN into the system and it gave me all the info on the cars service record basically. I did call the services "free" services. Now, as I mentioned, I am not the original owner, so I doubt I qualify. Also, the car is out of warranty, even if I were the original owner. So, I doubt that Jaguar will still honor their "free" services to me. I am planning on giving them a call this morning anyway.

Do you need to subsribe to the Service portion of the TOPIx site? I registered (e.g. haven't paid anything) but can't see, to find where the service records might be for my VIN. Recently picked up a 2004 x350 Vanden Plas
