Default Jaguar xj8 2005 coolant leak under throttle body

Hi all, just wondering how difficult it is to remove the throttle body. I have a coolant leak coming from under there.

If anyone ever done it I would appreciate your input

Here is the procedure to remove throttle body - there is a VIN break, so the coolant hoses going to it might look slightly different

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  3. Detach the throttle body.
    1.
      • Remove the retaining bolts.

  4. Remove and discard the gasket.
  5. NOTE:Cap the coolant hoses to minimize coolant loss.

    Remove the throttle body.
    1.
      • Detach the coolant hoses from the throttle body.

INSTALLATION
  1. CAUTIONo not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate has a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    1.
      • Install a new throttle body gasket.
      • Tighten to 10 Nm.
  2. Check and top up the cooling system.

If the leak is under the throttle body, chances are it's the coolant return hose that runs under the intake manifold. Both supercharged and naturally aspirated engines have a hose that goes from the valley up to the throttle body. This requires removing the intake to replace. For the NA engine the hose is part AJ89746. You'll also need 2 intake manifold gaskets, EGR, and a throttle body gasket. A lot of people also replace the knock sensors while they have the intake off, depending on mileage.

This isn't the part for natural aspired model but for supecharged !!!
The good part (I had the same problem) is AJ811763.
I didn't had to change any gasket, or seal, simply take care when removing and it's ok.

Clean up the upper engine with vaccum before removing the parts.

bye
