Default Just bought a '04 XJR - Jag diagnostic tools?

I'm excited... and I want to be prepared for problems. I haven't had any luck finding information on Jaguar-specific diagnostic tools. In contrast, my Audi (RIP) could be analyzed in detail using a "VAG" tool and laptop computer. Is there an equivalent Jaguar tool? PDU is for older Jags from what I understand.

My specific issue is around the rear electrically operated parking brake. It won't engage (knew this as part of the deal), displaying "Parkbrake Fault" and yet no DTCs appear on my scanner except P1111 which is "all systems go".

Thanks,
Mike

thats because you have a OBDII scanner and your not gonna pull a park brake fault without IDS or WDS, or now SDD. that being said. most park brake faults are park brake motor failures. Good luck on changing that without a lift it a total PIA even on a lift

Bought a couple of Jaguar (Canbus) OBDII scanners (one from USA) for mine but neither worked.
Need code read even though it seems like it could be straightfoward if thats the only message.Mine had parkbrake fault (with other faults) on the message display and a replacement battery under warranty sorted them all.
Good luck

Default Ford/Jaguar VCM diagnostic tool... from China?

The genuine Ford VCM is thousands of dollars. The ones from China are under $600US (which is still expensive in my books). Has anybody tried the Chinese VCM?

My experience with Far East OBD tools and other gadgets is that they are not perfect but work surprisingly well especially considering the price.

i'd really like to try my Autoenginuity software & scanner on an 04 and up with these type of problems, see if it codes the parking brake fault, and wondering about the air compressor as well. Guess I could just drive around and ask XJ owners.

Check this link out...
http://www.autoenginuity.com/vehicle...SensorList.htm

It shows several of the Auto Enginuity screens for the '04 XJR. There are some park brake fields but probably not all of them.

BTW, I took my car to the dealer to get the park brake looked at. It turns out I still had some warranty left on the car! They replaced the actuator for free, washed my car, and gave me a free car rental!
