I was a doubter about the looks--it does not really photograph well but after seeing a few in the flesh I am coming around. The design is very color sensitive especially with those black plastic C pillar "shrouds", saw the white one at the Toronto airport and was not that enthralled, it looks much better in silver and that darker gray. I would love to see one with the shrouds painted body color. Looking forward to seeing photos of one in Claret.

First post here, so no pics yet. I just took delivery last week on a 2011 XJ Supercharged--ultimate black exterior with London tan interior, jet dash, and burled walnut trim/steering wheel. This was the first one delivered by one of the three dealers here in Houston. I wanted the black because I was not real thrilled with the look of the blacked-out "C" pillar and it is a non-issue on the black car. The car is stunning looking from every angle and is an absolute rocket ship with the supercharged engine. I owned a 2002 and a 2005 XJR (both black) and loved them--then I went to the dark side and bought a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT and was not real impressed, so here I am back in a Jag!

These cars are my daily drivers and I would not recommend any Maserati for this (QP or GT). First of all, they are very sensative to mileage for resale since there are so many out there with very low mileage from people that use them for weekend toys. I took a pretty good hit when I disposed of mine because it had about 29,000 miles on it after a little over 2 1/2 years--pretty normal mileage I thought. The other factor is that you have to do business with the Ferrari/Maserati dealer that has absolutely no sense of urgency since most of their customers don't care when they get their cars back after service. Also no loaner cars, no customer lounge, no complimentary maintenance, or any of the frills that I have been accustomed to in the past with Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus. The routine maintenance is fairly expensive--you can figure on spending at lease $5K per year for scheduled maintenance and tires even when the car is in warranty (I would not recommend owning one out of warranty).
One thing that really impressed me about the new XJ is the 100% free maintenance (except tires) for 5 years, 50,000 miles. Plus, all of the cutting-edge technology just puts the Maserati to shame and I think the new XJ is about the only sedan out there now that can rival the Maserati on looks.

No donuts??...My BIL is one of those non-carguy types. He just sees things that look good and happens to have the money to buy most anything he wants.
I sent him R&T articles that compared Jaguars & Maseratis, with Jag coming out ahead, but somehow he managed to "hear" about the "Jaguar Stigma" and it's working on him...too bad!

I went to the local dealer in March to pick up my '04 XJ8 after having some work done and the area Rep was there with a 2011 XJ. It was dark maroon i've tried to attach the pictures I took with my cell phone camera. If they don't attach then I'll try something else tomorrow night. George.
