Default Key FOB replace/repair

I never thought something seemingly so simple could be such a problem. The button that unlocks the doors on my key FOB doesn't work. All the other buttons work except that one. After looking at some videos on You Tube I took it apart down to where I'm looking at the circuit board and the problem is that particular button is (frozen). Now, there is another video where a guy had a stuck button as well and he had bought, on Amazon I think, some of these little buttons and he was showing how he, with a soldering iron, removed the old one and put the new one in. I don't really want to bother with all that though. I see that you can purchase the circuit boards and was wondering if anyone has done this. It would be so much easier to just drop in a new circuit board. I guess I'm wondering if the circuit boards that you buy online will work and are compatible with the original Jaguar key FOBs. I realize that they would have to be programed, but there are other videos that show how to program them yourself and it looks pretty easy. Is there anyone out there that has done this?
The cost of a new Jaguar key FOB at the dealership is insane and then you have to have it cut and programed by them and that's another big expense. I just can't understand how they can justify charging so much for this stuff.

The new dealer key is already cut when it arives.
Accomplished by using your vin number.
You can program it your self.
If you have two working keys.

They keyfobs are not that expensive on E-bay. Though, this will require you to tinker with programming. If you do not want to go that way. find an independent locksmith that specialising in automotive keys, they may be more resonable than dealer.

The KEYS and TRANSMITTERS are 2 separate components!

Take the two halves apart and you can put any transmitter on any key you have.(they are not one unit)

Thank You, that helps. One other thing and you may know. They say you need two key FOBs to program them, I know how to do it from a YT video, but I have only one key FOB, but I do have a valet key. Couldn't I use the valet key to turn the ignition on and then program my key FOB? I'll probably end up buying a new FOB anyway as it makes me a little nervous only having one key, but for right now I just want to fix this one. Another guy responded that when you get a new one from Jaguar that the key comes already cut, I guess they can do that from my VIN number, so then it would only need to be programed which I can do myself.

The FORD thing about using two keys to configure additional keys is for the RFID transponders, (keys to start the engine) NOT the KEYFOB TRANSMITTERS.

@D.C. I replaced all the buttons in both of my transmitters. No reprogramming necessary. PM me if you would like to discuss having me fix yours for you.

Absolutely CORRECT!
The BUTTONS are part if transmitter, though. The way OP discribed, the issue is not a with a rubber touch mat, that is another insert in the keyfob.
On a different car I needed to replace keyfob: key, RFID chip and door opener, i.e. transmitter. Dealer wanted $350; I got it done for $150 at automotive locksmith.

The linked business serves Boston/New Hampshire area. I would think there are similar businesses all over the country.

Everything you need to know is in the sticky post "How To" at the top of the forum. Look for No. 13 - Key Fob - All you need to know.
