Hi hisport!

I'm definitely on the lookout for a clean SV8, probably a 2006 if I can find one. I'll never be able to justify the prices that Portforlios are bringing. But nothing goes down the road like an X350/X356/X358. The closest thing I've worked on is a Bentley Continental GT, and it weighs a thousand pounds more and is a lot more expensive to repair. I haven't driven a Mercedes or BMW that's even close to these Jags for a road trip.

We're still near Nashville, which is quickly becoming the new home of thousands of folks from California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, etc. I try to tell them their state taxes aren't really that high, so after they visit Nashville, they should go back home....

Cheers,

Don

Does not feel right when I visit. Has not for 15 - 20 years. Guess Houston is home. Has been for 34 years.
Sorry to hear your 2004 died. Headed over to U-Haul this afternoon. Trailering mine to Champion Jaguar for he dreaded valley hose tomorrow.
Brutal recommended Champion. They seem awesome.
Getting hose, knock sensors, and inter coolers cleaned. Any other items really needed on a 2006 XJR with 120,000 miles?

The shop should know which parts you'll need, but one thing they may not have on their parts list is the brake booster vacuum hose connector at the induction elbow. If yours isn't broken now, it probably will be after they disconnect the vacuum pipe from the elbow. You usually don't need to replace the brass bushing, but the plastic insert is usually broken or breaks during the disconnection process. They come in a kit, C2S15816:

Cheers,

Don

Don,
Good to hear...I'll keep an eye peeled for a late SV8 for you.

Yeah, it's a problem around here too...hot an' cold runnin' yankees. Thankfully, most are headed for Asheville, Raleigh, Charlotte - all of which are beginning to resemble Newark.

Panel -

Don's TB bushing suggestion perfect. I did my valley hose couple years ago at 120K. You might also consider SC coupling/oil and cooling system refresh while apart, if these haven't been recently done. Use factory SC coupler (solid ones are too noisy). Flush the SC radiator (mine was full of jello) and the two HE's. I replaced all three cooolant pumps, all hoses, idlers, tensioners, belts, thermostat. Cleaned TB and elbow.
Check also your trans cooler line flex sections (LHS, by main radiator). Most are leaking by now, and easy to renew hose sections while in there
I found minor vac leaks at PCV mounting o rings, dipstick o ring. Major vac leak at Don's bushing.
