greetings to all! i have a recurrent issue with my '04 X350. sometimes, when fully warmed up, if i have to stop for someting briefly, and turn off the car, when i get back, i have a hard time starting the car again. this is a great problem when i go into the bank or corner store and get back 10-15 min lated and i can't start my car. i have to try several times, then take key out, wait 30 sec to a min, then restart, and it will fire up. i was following a thread on another forum for the X305s, and it sounded so much like what i was experiencing, i figured it might be the same for me too. so i would like to check it out. does any one know of this and where it is, or is this a "dealer service item" sort of thing?
thanks in advance, william

The fuel pressure sensor is located on the engine near the front in the intake plenum area near teh thermostat housing. if this was malfunctioning, it would throw a code though. I suggest that you might have a failing check valve in the fuel pump that holds pressure in the system after shutdown. The fuel pressure sensor is cheaper to deal with but it may not be the problem. Equipment to test fuel pressure is pretty cheap, not a bad idea to do some pressure tests to narrow the choices down. If you install the pressure guage on the aytem, you can monitor how long pressure stays in the system after shutdown. Thsi will tell you what is going on. There is a schraeder valve on the fuel rail that you can snap the tester onto, very simple.
