Exclamation Locked my keys inside!

Long story short, I locked my keys inside my 08 xj8 today. I had both the 04 and 08 keys in my pocket. I took the 08 key and put it in the ignition to test the headlights as I installed them to ensure they were working correctly. When I finished I closed the hood and forgot that I had left the key inside. I reached in my pocket and pulled out what I thought was the 08 xj8 key but was actually the 04 xj8 key. Now the car is locked and I don't have a spare!! Anyone have any idea how to get in?

Crazy idea... Can't Jaguar make you a new metal valet key for the car with the VIN #?

Then I would use that to open the door and deal with the alarm instantly buy using the locked key fob inside...

I'm definitely going to get a second key made up. I'm happy to say that I remembered I had triple A and they came and got the car open in no time! Thanks for the help though guys!

I ALWAYS tell my customers to invest in at least 2 keys so $h!t like this does not happen.

A spare key from the dealer or elsewhere is usually cheaper than a tow truck or some other inconvenience stranded in some crappy neighborhood at some ungodley hour.

I even keep a Valet key in a magnet hiding case somewhere on the car for occasions such as that. Call me a crazy!!!!!!!!!!

A second locking lug nut key is also worthwhile.

And no point having it in the top drawer of the toolbox
.... 500 miles away.

Not to hijack, but how does one lock a key in the car when its in the ignition? It is virtually impossible on the new XJ's. I can see locking it in the boot, but not in the car when plugged in the ignition. The only way to possiblly do it is to manually lock the the car with a dup key, or in this case ANY Jag key. (As most of us know any Jag tibble key can lock a Jag from the door, but not unlock). Haven't tried it yet.

AAA popped the lock !!!!! My friend tows, and told me Jag, Lexas and Bimmer's are one of the hardest to pop. As they relock instantly. Good to know it CAN be done.

Get an 8$ ford remote fob from eBay. You can program it yourself easily under 2 minutes.

It's possible with a faulty lock (we've had an S-Type that did it), but otherwise really a challenge.
