Default Looking for a Super V8

Hey Everyone,

As the title says I am looking for a Super V8, Super V8 Portfolio, and or a X358 XJR in extremely good condition to replace my recently totaled 05 Vanden Plas. I would like low miles as the car I am trying to replace only had 10,600 miles on it.

As for my totaled car, it was dropped from 6-7 feet in the air off a mechanics lift. Both pins broke on one side of the lift according to my mechanic and the lift dropped my car and caused 35k+ worth of damage.

This was posted on my Facebook a few days ago...
"I had to say goodbye to my all time favorite car this afternoon and for anyone that knows me, knew how hard this must be for me. I did everything in my power to never see this day, but with my luck it happened. She only had 10,600 miles for a 2005 and was in storage for the last two years.

This car not only represents the greatest gift I have ever received from my dad, but proably the machine that made me want to peruse becoming an auto engineer/engineering in general. It's what got me hooked on Jaguar, plain and simple. It was part of my life, part of conversations, and part of me....and then to see the insurance company treat it like this when it can move under its own power still and not be damaged further, not cool.

I know some might think I am crazy but I really don't care, because the bond between man and machine is strong, especially for an engineer."

The picture I attached was pretty horrifying in person to see my baby moved around like that and honestly made me cry. That car has been with me since I was 11 years old when it was brand new.

Is it not possible to buy it back from the insurance company and get it repaired? I guess it might be different in the USA but in the UK, you can take the payout, buy the car from the salvage company and repair it privately.

I have been playing with that idea for the last two weeks or so. But with over $35,000 worth of damage from multiple appraisers.

Sorry to see the damage to your car and awful to see it picked up like that, you would think they risked damaging salvageable parts moving it that way.

Best of luck with your search for your next car.

That stinks, dude. Good luck with your search, but finding a replacement with such low miles is going to be tough. Good luck.

Does that make you 22 years old?

Not really looking to sell my 2009 XJ Portfolio with 16k miles on it, but money always talks...lol

My 2006 Portfolio has been bullet proof, as was my 2004 regular xj.
Current mileage 178,000. only work done is front shocks and recent water hose under the supercharger (expensive and bad design).
If someone has one for sale I'm interested.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I cant think of anything else to say other than I was so pissed and shocked after reading your story. The ONLY positive aspect is that you may find yourself in a SV8. By far the best Jag I've had. I'm blown away every time I drive it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Also, I cant wait to see what you get your hands on. Keep looking, your SV8 is out there.
Mark
