Default Low frequency vibration

I noticed my 2005 SV8 w/91k miles started making a distinct low level vibration noise in the lower gears and at lower speeds. It's less noticeable at highway speeds but the country roads where I live make it plainly obvious.

I'm trying to diagnose it using essentially deductive reasoning. Hopefully some folks might be able to offer up other things to look at before I go too crazy.

So far I've noticed the following:
- low bzzzz vibration from 0-50mph under mild acceleration
- no noise when not being given gas
- felt a little rough going from D to R and vice versa, car jerked a bit
- no grinding, clanging or other scary transmission sounds
- at idle in D you can definitely feel vibration in the steering wheel, less so if switched to N
- idler pulley sounds like it's failing or at least squeaky FWIW

My suspicion is bad transmission mount. I can't remember how much of the idling car you could feel since I haven't driven my car in a year.

Anyone else able to hazard a guess or suggest something else to look at? The mount is at least relatively cheap.

I second the transmission mount. Best place to start.

The other prime suspects are the flexible couplings at the ends of the driveshaft, but they're more difficult to diagnose and Jaguar doesn't sell them separately, so fingers crossed that it's your transmission mount.

Cheers,

Don
