I am very pleased to read all these posts as my X350 (2007) has 120.000 km under its belt and is still on its original air suspension. It was a one owner car (a neurosurgeon), garaged all its life and I have full service records. The rear suspension bushes have been changed. I guess it is on borrowed time regarding the air suspension and may fail sooner than later. So as I am retired and quite aged (78) I do not hoon about but just drive it as a cruiser.
So when the time comes I will convert to Arnotts system mainly to avoid a future breakdown. With regard to the mentioned increase body roll, is this just apparent when pushing hard or normal driving.?
I am so thankful for this forum and all its advice, comments and suggestions, it give me great confidence in decision making especially where lots of dollars are concerned.

Excuse the waking of the dead, but I was hoping you could give us some specific information about the anti-roll bars you used.

I've converted several X350s to the Arnott coils and one to the Suncoast coils. I notice the increased body roll in normal driving, but I'm a sporty driver who lives in an area with plenty of curvy roads. All of the owners of the cars I've converted were pleased with the results despite the change in handling.

Personally, I still believe the best option is to install new Bilstein B4 air springs/dampers if you can justify the expense. The ride and handling are exceptional, easily the equal of just about any luxury performance saloon you can purchase today short of a Bentley Continental GT.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks for the info Don, nearly all my driving will be on mostly straight roads so probably body roll will not be an issue for me. The comfort of knowing that coil overs will be much more reliable will make the decision for me when the time comes.

Don,
Quick question: Do any of the coil conversion kits have manual height adjust (spring tension adjust) ??

No.

When first installed, the car will sit higher than you think it should, and you'll have in your mind, "OMG, what have I gotten myself into? An XJ off-roader!!!" They settle onto their haunches within a few miles, though.

If you do find that there is too much body roll, there used to be a Korean kit of uprated anti-roll bars (front and back) on e-bay that works really well and makes the car handle great once fitted. Not too expensive either. Not sure if it's still available now though.

Sorry, Nick. I've used all the ones that came with coil conversion kits. Did you not receive one from your coil supplier?

Cheers,

Don
