It has been 11 days that the car is waiting outside at the dealership and it is rainy, the rental car I have is not to be driven with wind it moves more than the jag.I asked offered jag france to set the lower column first and see I wait their response.I double checked with Strastone and their stock is the exact same stock as jaguars cars so if it is available for Stratstone Sollihull, there is no reasons why it is not available with jaguar france here.I was wrong thinking Stratsone have their own stock.

Hey don't be harsh on yourself please , we had a humming noise from one of our rides it could be heard when you swing the steering wheel either direction all the way left or right . That problem turned out to be a vacuum pump ,it was not a headache but if you want everything to be perfect , nose to tail, even a scratch on the paint is enough for you to lose a sleep .

I have noticed my XJ6 car is sensitive to wind, but it doesn't push the car about very much. The 20" wheels will probably improve this, but be prepared for a much harsher ride

I would first try tyre pressures but clearly you will have to wait for a windy day to make experiments. There is quite a wide variation between "Comfort" and Normal, and then again between Normal and High-speed, so plenty of scope to try various pressures.

This XJ model variation (X350) has a lot more "windage" being so much bigger than previous variations, that I assume it is giving me a sail effect on the car. To be honest, I have only really noticed this effect on the M6 motorway near my home (in Cheshire). I have just accepted it as a characteristic of the car. I did not notice this with the 20" wheels, but I did not have them on the car for long, (now on 18"), and it was probably not very windy in that time. I never get a feeling that the car is going to leap into the ditch, it just seems a bit "jiggly".

Many, many years ago, my father had a VW Fastback rear-engined job, and that was really scary in wind !

You seem so unhappy with your car, yet I am really happy, (so far !!), although lets be honest, when one pays £10,000 for a car that cost £43,000 new, albeit with a few miles on it (30k in 7 years), one is more forgiving, I think. However I did have a 1980 Series 3 XJ6 once, so anything after that is a big improvement.

The main problem here if you are unhappy with the stock suspension is that the after-market for bushes and so on is non-existent for X350 models, unlike previous XJ series. I replaced rack bushes on a 1980 XJ6 I once had, with polyurethane aftermarket ones, and it transformed the car

...and here I thought this would be a resolution post. The drama continues I suppose.

I don't know what the law in France is, but in England, one can go to an arbitration tribunal, although I think both parties have to agree to accept its findings. Maybe this is what is needed. I don't want to stir things up, but we have only heard one side of this sad story.

Time to call a halt on this forum, I think; t has run its course. We cannot help our OP any more.

OK xjpassion I understand your frustrations, but for now I think it is time to take a rest.

I am not going to pass comment on any of the previous posts in this thread.

You have had your official expert give his report and you have posted his conclusion above, dated 30/09/2010.

He clearly states that in his opinion the car has defects that compromise the safety of this car in normal use.

He also invites the dealer to have their own official expert look at the car on the 25th October and states that if they decline to do so, then the process is likely to go against them.

So between now and then, there is nothing you can do, and in my opinion you should not be driving the car at all.

If you do have an accident as you seem to wish for, it will be entirely your fault for using a car that your official expert claims, and documents to be potentially unsafe.

Insurance companies, will not like that.

(for the guys in the US, these experts are independent of any dealer and or individual and are registered/licensed, their reports are unbiased).

So, until some time after the 25th October.

Good luck.

My head is beginning to hurt.

An OP with a thread unto his own.

Hey xjpassion, whilst you have done nothing wrong on this forum I think it is time to call time on this thread.

It seems to be going off on a tangent about tyres and is no longer about your steering movement.

If you do eventually receive a solution to your problem please let us know.

But in the mean time there is nothing more we can help you with and I think we have allowed you to vent for long enough.

So for now, the thread is being closed.

Update

Sadly, in the hours since this reply. The OP launched a series of strong personal attacks against some of our members. As everyone is aware this is not on, and this has resulted in the OP's exclusion from the forum.

An action that we do not take lightly.
