Don't have exact numbers on the XJR Portfolio but it was 100x for the UK, 5x for Australia, and at least 50x for Europe, if not more. LHD ones have shown up for sale in Germany and Russia.

The XJR Portfolio did not have any of the back seat luxuries like the Super V8.

Midnight Black paint (Super V8 was Black Cherry or Winter Gold)
Ivory interior, except for the Aussie ones which were with Charcoal (Super V8 was Conker)
Power Vents (same as Super V8)
Aluminium gearshift surround (same as Super V8)
Big exhaust finishers (same as Super V8)
Polished Calisto wheels (same as Super V8)
Aluminium Weave Veneers (Super V8 had black walnut)

There was no Portfolio badge on the boot, no 400W Dolby sound, no electric back seat, no alcantara headliner

Mannnn I wish I had the cash rite now!!! I've never been a fan of black, but you guys have REALLY made me take notice of the Portfolio. I didn't even know one such as this existed until after I bought my XJ8-L & joined this forum.

Honestly, I didn't even realize that the VDP was a LWB until it was too late! Otherwise I'd only look @those being I wanted the tray tables, but I knew I wanted the LWB, so I, not knowing the specifics of different models, only looked for XJ8-L's.

(If only I had joined the forum before buying)

Default Additional XJR Portfolio

Further to my recent posting of the two photographs of my car, I have read the string of earlier comments on this model.
For your information, mine was registered on the 23rd March 2007 and its VIN number ends H15921 making it a Castle Bromwich car. Not sure how late in production mine is although I suspect that it has the next lowest mileage to the one owned by Jaguar Heritage in that I have just come up to 21,000. When I bought the car last June it had only done 16,020 so when I saw it at the Jaguar Main Agent in Preston, it was like a new car but with a big discount!
I think mine is the "standard" UK trim and colour. Midnight Black (a metallic dark black), ivory leather trim and brushed aluminium dash and gear stick surround. Other Portfolio items are as per other cars with the polished Castillo wheels, cast alloy side vents, rather large twin exhaust pipes and it goes like s... off a shovel!
An interesting story about when I bought it. I was not looking for another car so when I went to the showroom and paid the deposit, I was in no rush to collect it straight away. I told the garage that I would pick it up at the end of the month. In the meantime the salesman 'phoned me to say that I could have my deposit back. I thought this was odd and when I went to collect it, another salesman told me that they could have sold it several times over and that at least two prospective customers had offered more cash than the garage had advertised it for. I feel good at having got a great car at a good price!

After having added 2500 km to the odometer, I wished to share my feelings regarding the tyres/wheels set on my PF.

The PO told me that these were different from the normal specs.
The car was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Plus 255/40R20 101 V N0, which are M+S tyres.
These are larger tyres (their overall height is 1" bigger), normally fitted for Porsche Panameras (hence the N0 specification), different from the regular 255/35R20 tyres that should be mounted on the 20" Calisto wheels.

At first I was very pleased because I was quite concerned by all I had read on the fragility of the Calisto wheels and on their exposure to potholes with low profile tyres. Plus the possible harsh riding due to such low profile.

Notwithstanding the problem of not having a Certificate of Conformance to register the car here in Belgium, this non standard size for tyres was however a no go for the inspection and I had to buy standard tyres to pass the control (actually I used a set of 18" Luxury wheels with 235/50R18 Nokian WR A3 tyres that I will have available for winter).

Then I swapped again the wheels to use the Michelin on the 20" Calistos.

I must say that I am very happy of the larger tyres set. It provides a smooth ride and I am much quieter regarding my Calisto wheels. Also, I have not noticed any significant degradation in steering or overall car behaviour.

Last comment on the braking system.
The PO had also replaced the standard brakes by perforated rotors and ceramic pads, front and rear (can be seen on pics above).
Compared to my previous X350 (non SC), I know that the standard braking system is improved for XJRs and SV8s.
But the current setting provides an amazing strengthening of the braking power.
A very worthy investment!

Cambo...very interesting read..... Tell me what you think of this one as it looks like an XJR Portfolio, its a 2005 and has no side vents and in silver, though the interior looks a little like the portfolio but with the cranberry leather.

That's not a Portfolio actually scotty, it's a regular XJR, and it happens to belong to a forum member, interesting that he's put it up for sale...

Thats what I thought, but was put off with the gear knob and steering wheel, thought that standard was the half wood wheel, but looking at the other pictures this seems the full leather is standard in the xjr.

Been thinking of selling the car but every time someone wants to look at it I decline....and when walking away from it just look at the wife and she says, you dont have to sell it you know...lol....

I love the silver colour on the xj nearly bought one that colour ended up with a black one bugger to keep clean

I agree that the low profile tyres on the Castillo wheels give a hard ride, but then the 400bhp wasn't meant for driving round like a hearse! My summer shoes are 20" Castillo wheels with Dunlop SP Sport 255/35 R20 97Y tyres -excellent grip - and for winter I use 18" Jaguar Rapier wheels fitted with Goodyear UG8 Performance Winter Tyres 235/50 R18.
These have the same total diameter as the 20" with 35 profile tyres, so don't require any remapping of the car. They are also a more comfortable ride. For winter I have also fitted Alloygator rim protectors which are a good product.

Well, it's up to each owner to decide upon what he best prefers in terms of wheels/tyres for ride and comfort.

Personally, I am not sure that 20" rims were that necessary for the ride of a luxurious limo such as the Super V8 Portfolio.
19" would have been enough and would have provided a bit more comfort with a 40 profile instead of a 35 one.
But I will not complain of my 20" Callisto, their design is superb and they deserve care.
The attached pic showing a repair on one of my five rims proves that they can be easily damaged.

That's why I am happy of having them fitted with bigger tyres that do not really alter the ride. I get comfort and quietness of my mind in addition.
