The Cobra has gone to a good home, so after much searching and decision making I have bought my first Jaguar. An XJ6 X350 2007 3 litre V6 with 120K km’s. I would have preferred the V8 but none were for sale that I could find, even so the car I bought was sight unseen apart from pictures. As I wasn’t prepared to fly interstate (Covid) to both look at the car and drive it home I had to settle for having it transported from Melbourne to my home near Sydney.
The asking price was quite steep but I did negotiate a price I was prepared to pay and now having the car and looked over it with a fine tooth comb and taken it for an extensive drive I am very pleased and happy that I have bought the right car.
It is a one owner car (a medical surgeon) and has obviously been garaged all its life as there is no deterioration of the paint work, rubbers, or leather due to sun. There are two extremely minor scratches on the rear bumper (suitcases no doubt) and minor cracking on the driver seat back leather. The boot rubber seal has been damaged and will need replacing.
The log book shows regular servicing by Jaguar and the engine oil is clean and clear. I will, never the less, have a full service and fluid change, particularly the brakes, done very soon. There is no indication of the air suspension being changed but the rear ball joints have been changed. I have factored in the likelihood of having to do the suspension sooner rather than later but I still have funds left over from the Cobra sale.
So, I am now looking forward to being an active member of the forum and I am sure I will have lots of questions to pose.
Congrats and good luck with the car, sounds like you got a well cared for cat!
Interesting that your grille is the cross bar style, I thought those were only on '04-05 models (at least here in the US, then they went to mesh inserts for all models).
Like you, I might have preferred a V8 but ended up with a V6. Never mind, reality is I've never floored it except perhaps once for testing, so it's irrelevant at least to me.
Congrats & Cheers mate.
Good find, it looks like! That boat in the background is gonna need a lot more work than the Jag, that's for sure!!!
Thanks gentlemen for your kind comments. The "boat" in the background is a sculpture with a nod to the ship building industry in the area during the second half of the 19th century and into the 20th. Over 500 wooden ships were built.
