H2Oboy, when I first opened your post#18 I thought, Oh No !, he ruined it. I was relieved to see it was another car and you think the way I do. The bumper and lower grille on the X351 does not work at all. I also like the bumper blades chrome.

Just MHO.

Didn't mean to scare you clamdigger!

@tarheal, is a force multiplier a good, or bad thing?

Just a slight addendum, the Leaper is actually still an option in the US. I spoke with Ian Callum, the designer, and it turns out that hood ornaments are actually banned almost everywhere else, it's the reason Mercedes don't have them anymore either. The only reason Rolls Royce still has them is because they get around the law by lowering it into the hood when moving.

Though, let's be honest, neither the XF or the new XJ look right with a Leaper...Callum knows people are still nostalgic for it though, that's why it's on the back now.

Thanks alot!

I like it both ways. All you need is some window tint and you're set

a4500435, I haven't forgotten you, promise. The elm v1.5 is in the glovebox of my xk8, and its at the mechanic having a transmission rebuild done on it. I'll get it back next week. Sorry for the delay.

@ 04XJwpg...window tint?? Aw man, I'm trying to stay away from that on this car. We'll see how rough it gets next summer and make the call then.

Love the rims, I was thinking of fitting some XK rims the same as my wife's sometime next year but I do like the original rims I have but would of liked 9.5 on the back to make them truly staggered to fill the rear arch better, I could fit spacers to the back but I remember spaces in the 80's that where not good so am put off that idea.

if you want good quality spacers, XKracer (in the UK) makes his own for his custom XK jobs he does. He's got a great reputation around here, and you'll find him in the XK8-XKR subforums mainly (x100). There is a thread in the x350 area that shows an XJ with the staggered wheels from an XK, I didn't like the obvious difference, so stuck with 8.5s.

What about just doing a slight drop of the air suspension instead? That'll fill some gaps, and you can still rotate your tires...where if they're staggered, you won't be able to.

...Nice work!

I've posted my For Sale ad in the classified section for the original chrome wheels and the grille. ****** 'em up if you want them! I think the pricing is very fair on each.

a4500435, v1.5 elm works fine with the 05 XJ. Here's the unit I purchased.

Something has to be done, the factory setup is just too narrow at the rear. 255's look like motorbike tyres on an X350...

If nobody buys the Arden's I have in the meantime then they'll be on the car next spring. It's a staggered setup with 9" front & 10" on the rear

There is one X350 in the UK that's running 285's on factory 9" rims on the back, certainly makes a difference, I'll be going for 295's with the Ardens...should fill the wheel arches....

Put my wife's XK wheels on the back this weekend to see what they looked like, she has 275 rears they looked killer so that is the way I am going to go, just need to find a good set of Carelias early next year shame that set that was for sale on here for $600 where in Canada!

Robert, be sure to check your caliper clearance on the front with those wheels, its tighter than the rears.

Random observation here... Are you still driving the car on the original Minnesota tag?

I wonder if you or someone here is good enough to color match the bumper blades in photoshop...

Take care,

George

Yes, I'm driving it on the Minnesota tags, only until my Texas Tech plates arrive. I have the standard plates inside the car with registration, but I decided to just wait until next week, that's when I can exchange them.
