Default My XJR Was Totalled Today

I have owned this car 6 years and she's finally gone. We had an ice storm in Connecticut today and somebody slid into it and it's definitely had it. I have not driven the car in 6 years in the rain or snow once but my other vehicle was down and my wife needed to get to work she got caught in the ice parked it on the side of the road and somebody slid right into it what are the chances? Not going to try to fix it or buy it back it's over. I have the supercharger pulley upgrade cold air intake just put four new tires on it with 50 miles on them and 125 shot Nitrous system with bottle heater remote opener purge system the works a sad day indeed

In one way, unless there are other wounds not shown, front-end 'sheet metal' repairs are generally successful. Since everything bolts on, there is a good chance of repairing it to an unnoticeable level. you would need to find a donor, if it was the correct color, that would bring down the cost significantly.

That looks pretty fixable to me. But I'm not a body man . How are the windshield and airbags?

It is a sad day indeed. I am very sorry to hear/see the problem. I would have said it does not look to be beyond repair at one time also. However it is my understanding a major issue with repairs in a vehicle damaged as this is relates more to the sensors, wiring and other electronics. The calibration of everything makes the repair much more complicated than just bolting on new sheet metal. I am sad to see a vehicle as nice as yours written off but I do now understand more about the problems that would be encountered. Good luck to you with however you decide to proceed.

Sorry to hear & see the damage to your Jaguar, glad no one was hurt
The insurance totals these cars WAY too easily.
My 07 was totaled, repurchased, repaired, then retitled as a salvage.
May affect the resale value, but have no plans to sell it.
Have pictures of the damage, with all the paper work for repairs.
The car is no longer damaged, with a little cash left over.
You may want to reconsider, if not best of luck to you

Alas,my '04 has a similar story.
A couple years ago, a slightly broken headlight and a ding in the leading edge of the aluminum fender sent it off to the salvage yard. It was flipped to me for cheap. I bolted on a new fender of the same color with no paint needed. I have had to do all the usual remedial work but don't regret buying it now. They seem to be more in demand now as well.

No airbag deployment at all car was parked

Well thanks I figured I'd probably have to buy it back for 1500 or so but then when you add the cost of even used parts they're going to be dented and damaged and going to need a lot of body work lots of the painting blending the sides and by time I'm done I don't think it's going to be worth it. Thank God I have a 2014 XK Coupe to keep me happy in the meantime!

Looking at this picture makes me want to cry LOL

my condolences.. there is time to reconsider on what looks to be a nice sedan.
i can say from shopping this car for months that a good "R" is hard to find
not to be a boarish...ooffe .. however..
i have recently purchased my first xjr to go with my xkr.
i am wondering if you would be interested in selling a few items off of yours ?

I know you are sick. I would be, too. But, if you can buy it back or they just let you keep it and pay for your loss, you could definitely make some money parting it out. Non-commodity spares are getting hard to find. If it happened to me, that's what I'd do.

Very sad to see this, but agreed with the others. Especially with as much as you've got into it, that looks repairable.

Beautiful XKR. Keep that garage alive as shown. Take a dram of scotch and call us in the morning.

Don't be too hasty; you've had the car for a while so you must like it. it's hard to find a good replacement, even if you do it's an unknown quantity, and you have to start again with modifications / personalisation.

What was the estimate to repair. I think insurance company did not take into account that used car prices are way up. They probably used a regular valuation tool, to keep the price low, so they could total it.

Mine is the same color. Is your interior the light grey? Would love to have the drivers seat if in good shape.
Put in a lower cushion but from a VDP and think an XJR is better for me.
BTW, it is totaled. Does not take much with the aluminum body.

Definitely a total loss...parts are 13K without labor or paint work.

Those xenon headlights are over $2000 each new without bulbs.
Looks like the passenger side is the only one needed
With no good ones on the computer when i looked.
I would like to buy the drivers side light, if you part the car out.
Believe that its also the xenon set up in this model of Jaguar.
Mine still works, but has a broken mount, the one next to the fender.
Would really be better if you could salvage it, to keep & enjoy.
