Default Mystery Wire (2005 XJ8)

In an earlier post, I posted I had a squirrel eat through/destroying the bundle of wires on the right side of the engine (looking at the engine from the front) just above the fuel injectors & left of oil cap. I have reconnected all the wires, BUT there are 2 black covered wires with a small tan wire inside each of them and a gold outside shield of each wire that I do not know where they go. There are no black wires beyond them to reconnect. I have attached a overview pic as well as a closeup of the 2 wires.

HELP!

Richard

That's what I thought. But what if not and then something would get bad. But since there is no other connection it's in dee a mystery wire.

I'm working on my car right now, I'm going to check out.

A shielded wire is often used to protect the internal lead from RFI or EMI. I'd take a pair of test leads with alligator clips on bith ends and connect shield to shield and the single lead to single lead then fire her up.

J.A.G.

We're you able to check your car? Thanks!!!!!!

abonano...If it was the wire to the knock sensors, I don't see where the wires would connect to. There are not any in the bundle. 😣

Have a look at the wiring diagram.

Shielding is shown as a loop around the wires

and you can see that the CKP and CMP sensor wires are shielded.

If you start the car and get a code it will indicate the fault area
then clear the code and connect wires.

Start car again and hopefully it will start.

To add here. You have to reconnect the wire and outside shielding separate.
