Hello guys!
I am reading threads about this theme some days in the row.
I have 2006 XJ with the original SAT NAV touch screen.
I want to remove it and to install separate climate control control panel and 2DIN kenwood.
The problem I have for the moment:
can't find wiring diagram.
Look:
Sat nav connector is bigger than the climate control connector.
I have bought this item with the connector and cutted wires.
Can anybody help me with any instruction?
Don't want to blow something by connecting wires by the colors only.
If you remove the OEM screen you will not have access to some functions like the climate control that are controlled on the screen as well as the button functions.
You could use voice for most of the climate functions but not for things like the fan speed, heated screens, defrost ect
A better way imho is to add a video interface and fist a new android unit to that.
This way you retain all of the OEM functions and screen but can switch to the new unit.
This is the way I have done mine
The Android blackbox is mounted under the steering wheel and I have and Aux SD input and SDD hdd in the glove box.
The GPS antenna is run back to the parcel shelf
If you remove the OEM screen you will not have access to some functions like the climate control that are controlled on the screen as well as the button functions.
But why if I want to install separate climate?
There are all functions I need to do with the climate
If you retrofit non navigation the only thing I think you will loose is the heated front screen although you could easily add a switch and do a minor rewire for that.
You will also have to bypass (loop) the db2 harness when removing the head unit, and in the boot when removing the rest.
Im sure others will be interested in the parts as well to do a nav upgrade
What you need to do is remove the nav system and associated components
The pinouts are clearly laid out in the electrical diagrams
I suggest you read the thread on retro fitting the nav as you need to do the opposite
The Nav head unit itself has 5 Connectors.
These being (From the Denso repair Manual)
CN500 - D2B fibre connection
CN400 - Data Connection
CN100 - Data and Touch connection to the Nav DVD
CN200 - RGBS Connection to the Nav DVD
CN300 - Audio and Mic
CN700 - Antenna
All of these are also laid out in the electrical diagram
When you remove the head unit you will be breaking the d2b bus and this needs to be in a loop
So you will need a loop for the dashboard area when you remove the head unit, Phone or bum and in the boot for the nav dvd, DVD and or CD units
Again this is all laid out int the threads on retro fitting the nav however I have included the pinouts on the back of the nav for you
Its clearly stated in the electrical diagram you can download this but I would also suggest you download and install the JTIS and JEPC
The Head unit and standalone module have a different harness that connects to the climate module however you also need to remove the other modules like the nav dvd, and phone/bum as well as reprogram the car with sdd
Study the electrical diagram. What you have is called Remote climate control module (RCCM) - it is controlled by the nav unit either via CAN or SCP - it does not support the display panel you have bought. The connector on the touch screen is for the nav unit only it has nothing to do with climate control.
You need to replace the RCCM with regular climate control module (CCM) - that has two connectors one for the climate parts and one for the display panel you have - obviously you would also need a harness to connect the two.
Also you would need to rip all jag audio components since they won't interface with your double DIN head unit - this is the D2B part 34by151 was alluding to. You would need to route the audio from the front head unit to the back - that is where all speaker wires are connected to the amplifier. You can not re-use the existing amp it only has digital D2B input.
I assume the head unit has some adapter to understand the steering wheel controls - these are standard resistor network, connected to the CD-player in the front.
You should be able to re-use the existing connectors. Just make sure you connect the correct wires together - the electrical diagram is your friend - page44.
By the looks of it you will need extra power for the control panel.
I have a 2004 XJ8, 30 K miles.
NO Nav but has Alpine Speakers, so thinking that is premimum sound?
I truly need bluetooth for voice calls in California as well as GPS and Sat,.
I have decided to do a double din replacement
I have seperate Climate Controls.
will i have to re run all speaker wires, as they are fiber optic?
Will disconnecting the fiber loop from the oem head unit cause other issues with the car?
The New all in one head unit looks like 800 bucks..
how many hoyrs for a shop to do the install? Thanks!!
