Default Navigation disc

I've just purchased a '06 Vanden Plas which has the 2006 nav disc in it. I want the new version but don't necessarily want to cough up the $200 for it. Is there a source for used ones (like from cars that have been totaled)?

Also, I've heard there is new "firmware" with the disc. Does anyone know if the navigation turn display has been improved and if more than 1 POI category can be displayed at once? (My '06 STS would display the distance to the upcoming exits along with what POIs were at each exit--even if the exit was not one that the guidance was going to direct you to take. It was nice to know what gas stations and eateries were coming up.) Thanks.

Is your 06 a Denso system or Alpine? Does NAVtech show your car has a current version of the maps/software available?

I think it is a Denso (don't have access to the car right now), but Navteq and the Jaguar sites both say the 2008-2009 disc, 1X43-10E898-BH, is the updated version that I need. The one I currently have is the 2006 version that came with the car. Thanks.

I have the newest disc (BH) but my wife has the car today. I will check on the multiple POI thing.

It did do a firmware update, but I was upgrading from a BB disc. Not sure if it needs to do one from a later version, but from chatter on the forums I think it still does. Didn't notice any really huge improvements as far as UI goes.

Will let you know about the POI thing tomorrow, if no one beats me to it.

Around $400 on ebay, $600 at the dealer. And it is the latest DVD that is 3 years old.

Damn Lew, what kind of system is in yours? lots of them have torrents on line where you can download them, since its somewhat dated and the newest possible i think you could have some luck with that.

All 03-08 S types and 04-current XJs use the same software from what ive been told (plus they have the same head unit)

It's an Alpine unit and has had 4 updates since new. Latest one is 2-3 years old and no more planned updates. I've started using a Garmin portable. I can hook it up to my computer any time for updates and revised maps are $69. I think portable is the way to go. Less $$ upfront, more capability and cheap and easy updating.
