The sound for the navigation system does not come through the car's sound system in my 05 XJ8VP like it did on my previous 04 XJ8. The sound I hear is from what sounds like a tiny small speaker from what appears to be behind the center console! Anyone know what is going on? The system works perfectly but for the sound not coming through the car's speakers or sound system.

Hmmmm, interesting, it should be over the stereo speakers, otherwise you're going to have a hard time hearing the directions.


Have you had any work performed on the Nav/Stereo systems? Have you recently bought this vehicle?

 

Yes, just bought the car. The only thing I noticed the previous owner updated the navigation disk to 2009-2010. The radio, CD, and CDC work perfectly.

Have you checked the Nav volume? Go to Menu > Volume and you should see something like this.

 

I did check the volume, and it is all the way to the right (as loud as possible). The navigation is just not going through the car's sound system????

 

I fixed the navigation sound this morning and want to update to perhaps help someone else.

The problem was the front speakers had no sound. The navigation sound is mainly through the front speakers. I removed the front speakers and soldered a connecting wire from the plugin to the brass looking wire that goes to the cone or speaker itself. My connections looked fine but were not making connections! I understand this is a very common problem!

I have the same problem with the nav sound on my 04 VDP. (The other audio components have full sound though.)
Are you referring to the speakers in the doors as the front speakers? What did you connect to on the speaker plugin?
