matt, you can obtain the PIN from the dealership. They can look up your VIN and then with proof of car ownership, they will give you the PIN. NOw, if you have upgraded your system from someone else, then you might be SOL. Don't mean to put it bluntly, but unless you can get them to give you the PIN number, Jaguar will not give you a PIN number. They do this so that the radios become "worthless" to anyone that steals one. Unless you find a dealership that is willing to understand the position that you are in, I think you are going to find it a hard sell if you have bought it second hand.

im not sure of the lining up issue, but as far as the pin goes, most likely you will still need to somehow show proof of ownership of the original vehicle. So whoever you got it from would have to provide the title or other proof of ownership of the vehicle with the vin number where you got the NAV unit out of.
The vin number can be obtained in a handful of locations of the vehicle and won't show ownership by having that number.
