Default NavTool with Multimedia

I know that this topic has been kicked more times than dead horse
but reading them provide me with very little info such as:

I have NavTool which I'm using now with backup camera, but what
I want is to add Multimedia device that will replace my 2004 XJR
Map with the one that can be updated on regular bases.

My questions are:
  • which of dozens of all sort of multimedia devices known to be most
dependable, easy to install and to manage?
  • how to install it so NavTool and "?" work together?
if I have missed topic in this forum, please refer me there for more info

I don't wanna to replace radio, all I need is components that @dennis black this forum member has been using with NavTool and how to connect all dots to make them work.

The problem, that guy made dozens of videos how to use the results and not a word which components to use and how to install them in all his 600+ posts.

I have stumbled at that article before (good job) but as I said I have already spend money and bought NavTool, my rear view camera is working and all I need is to utilize NavTool's second channel to work with units like Kodi or comparable, the one that known to work together and how to install instructions.

Thanks for suggestion
Cheers

You need to enable (switch on) the aux input
This is done with a simple switch and details on how to hook this up are in the instructions.

If you want you can get more elaborate but the method of selecting the aux input is the same. For example I have remapped (changed) the functions of the steering wheel controls. A long (2 sec) press of the source button changes to the aux and back again. Ive added other functions to the steering wheel to control the android buttons and some app selections.

As for kodi you need a box that outputs cvbs video to go into the aux input.
You problem isn't really video its audio and screen inputs.

You need to have audio go into an ACM or the like. Then you need to to work out how you can control the unit. Some have remote controls but I find that a pita.

This is why I went an android unit as it has a touch screen input. I also chose a video interface that had an 2 cvbs and 2 RGBS inputs. This means my android is fed into the th system with the max resolution (via rgbs)

For someone who are looking for simple plug and play solution your method is more than I with my layman capabilities can manage.

I need something that I can plug in into NavTool unit and get all my standard Jag features plus some extras but most important for me is to have up to date Navigation Maps which in my Jag are 5 years old.

Its not that hard

You have a video (cvbs) input and now need to sort out an audio input
Once you do that you can connect what you like to the AV inputs

For audio your options are an ACM or FM modulator
Id suggest you get an ACM installed

After that id suggest you look at a mirror link adapter for you phone and run a nav app on that.

A bunch of units that will suit are available at carsolutions

If you are not able to install the above I suggest you source an ACM and have an audio installer do the rest of the work for you as they will not have any trouble doing it for you

Cheers

Bad news. My Jag doesn't have phone option.
I call Jag and they told me that they can add that capability to my Jag for cool 2K

I'm not sure if I can mirror my phone, the one that I have to buy now, to make it work.

Default NavTool with Multimedia

I sell the Google TV BOX programmed & ready to go. I guess you hadn't searched a bunch, or you'd see my threads with videos, how to etc., along with showing the BOX/KODI etc. in action in the car (as well as in my RRS) As for Google Maps, you'd need an Android NAVIGATION system got that, which is what 34 is talking about on his. Your problem is that, the NavTool only has 2 inputs, versus the units we have with 3, so you'd have an issue there, as well as, like he says, you'll need an audio source...

in my truck (basically same as the car)
