Default Need advice. Please help

Iv been a BMW guy since 2003. Iv always loved the XJR. A local dealer in my town has a 2005 Super V8. He's asking $21K. After looking at the car very closely here is what I found. Hood and front fenders crasing. Looks like body filler that wasnt cured right. Minor leak from a power steering line or tranny cooler line, left side engine bay below intake hose. Rear tires really worn on the inside, aligement. Iv had supercharged cars before but when I put my sethoscope to the supercharger neck/pulley area it sounds like a bearing going bad, but you cant hear anything just standing there listening to the engine run at idle. Interior is all there but needs a massive cleaning/conditioning.

Heres my main concern:
When I select through the gears it has a slight hesitation before going into reverse. Is this normal for the 6 speed auto?

Also...where is the OBD 2 port on this thing?

I countered with $10K but that is before a test drive. I know these cars like BMW's have problems with bushing and ball joints failing. I think Ill go back and test drive and if there is any kind of shimmy I'll drop to $8K. Im not worried about maintenance cost. There is nothing I cant do on a car, besides anything that requires some sort of stupid special tool only sold by Jag.

Any advise/areas to look at would be greatly appriciated.

Regards

It has been seriously neglected, so avoid ! There are plenty of other XJRs around that have been cherished by their owners. The condition of the interior is always a very good sign of how the owner treats the car.

Did you do a search on "Carfax"? Compare prices on auto sites?

The OBD port is located under the dash, right-side:

Walk away. There are well cared-for XJs that will still cost you some $$$ to bring up to speed.

Default Just my 2 cents :)

Run don't walk away from this one. I bought an 04 VDP that is in excellent cosmetic condition and immediately began experiencing problems. So one that is showing serious signs of neglect. Run Forest Run!
