I am upgrading my 2004 xjr from 19 to 20 inch wheels. I bought the car used and it did not have the pirelli pzeros in it. I saw that they were on sale at tirerack for $150 so I bought a set before I even had rims. I would really like to install aftermarket rims (black with chrome lip, sorry I am a young person) on the car. It seems that aftermarket rims are hard to find that fit the new xj's. The factory rims are a +49 offset and the closest thing I can find is a +40. But tirerack even has +38 that they say will fit.
So my question is does anyone have any experience fitting aftermarket wheels to these cars, with a +40 offset will the stick out to far, what will fit and what are the other things to look for.

I know off-topic, but do you feel strange being young and driving an XJR? I am 19 and an 06 XJR is on my short list of choices but thats one of my hang ups, that the car isn't age appropriate. I used to feel strange when I first got my license driving my parents S500.

If you want a miserable experience, put rims with the wrong offset on there! You will experience averything from tramlining to tire rubbing. If you have a race shop and can modify the suspension to suit, try it, otherwise, stick to the factory offset.

you prob wouldnt know it but im 22 and as you saw from my other posts i too am considering an XJR, did before i got my s type r, drive the 7 series also etc.... most of the time id take a big 4 door over a small fast car anyday ( i grew up around both big 4 doors and racing porsches)
why did you feel strange? just because its seen as an older persons car? just remind yourself how many other people our age drive a car that's pretty much $100,000? very few, and how many of them want a $100,000 car?ALL OF THEM... so appreciate how fortunate you are and if they dont like it they are just jealous, be confident in it.
cottonfarmer: as for the 20s have you considered the factory 20" sepangs with black painted centers and lip+rivets polished? i think that could be hot! Dont trust tire rack either, my family has been customers for over 10 years and they lost us by repeatedly sending us defective tires and refusing to take care of it even thought hey admitted it was their fault! dont settle, wait til u find the right fit
