Need Help with Decision: XJR or XK?
Help me decide. Currently drive and '04 XJR. Love the power, space, looks, ride, just about everything (besides the air suspension). The problem is...I found a VERY low mile '07 XK convertible.
I have always wanted a convertible (especially an XK). Obviously the interior space is different, but we do have another vehicle better suited for long trips with more than two people.
The XK would have to replace the XJR. Would not drive in the winter (have a dedicated winter vehicle). Need to fit my 5 year old in the back also.
What should I do?

Go with the XK.
I've always owned at least one rag top since I was 16. There are just days where nothing else will do, and you won't regret it.
Not to mention, if your 5 year old finds out later that you didn't get it when you had the chance, you'll be in the dog house for a long time. My daughters have made it abundantly clear that if I ever get rid of the XJS Conv, they'll never forgive me. Be the cool dad.

A small convertible is great fun, but don't forget your son will grow. I made a similar decision when I bought my Porsche - fitting both my daughters (5 & 8 at the time) in the back and the wife in the passenger seat. Now both my daughters are taller than my wife, and the taller one sits in the passenger seat, the other one sits behind her (with the front seat moved up) and my poor wife sits behind me with little or no legroom. We have to drop the top to get everyone in and out of the car.
So I bought an XJR for family outings.

If you ever wanted a convert I say buy the XK. Different car but also different (more enjoyable) experience if you love converts and live in an area where you can use it a lot.
I had the top down on my XKR for 62 days (didn't drive it everyday though but almost) in a row but then I love converts and have had many.
Enjoy, live is too short !
