i am trying to program the remote for my 2006 XJ8L, and i finally got a beep , but it beeped several times and i did not see a light anywhere.. what is a PATS light and where is it located? Oddly enough, the remote will open the trunk but will not turn on the lights and it will not lock or unlock the doors. what is that all about? strange. it is 11pm here so i will wait until day light when i can find the fuse box and try to find the fuse for the security system and pull it for 10 seconds and see if that helps. anyone have any ideas?

Those are the articles to read first. The PATS light is the small dome shaped thing in the center of the dash right up by the front window.
