Need quick opinions!
Getting my hood, front fascia, and fenders blended painted tomorrow...Should I fill in the holes and eliminate the front plate? We are a 2 plate state but I was thinking of this https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Powe.../dp/B001TLLZ4E secondly next to the lower driving lights there is a small piece of the grille and filler panels that are painted gray...Go gray or black??? Any pics will be great! Thanks...04 XJR

Viper1966.
I bought a used SC on Ebay and had it upgraded with nose gearing from a 2009 car. Apparently it is better than the nose gearing in 2004-2006 models.
I also had a 2.6 pulley put on it with professional nose grinding for it to fit.
Also had some porting done. Not much to be done to improve porting on the Gen V.
To help with loss of power because of extra heat in the SC and intercoolers I added an intercooler radiator in series with the existing SC radiator.
Because it partially "blocks" normal airflow from the front I added two 6" fans on the front of the additional IC radiator with their own thermostatic control.
The blue circles are the center pieces of those fans.
When all fans are going there is quite a blast of air through the radiators and through the engine compartment.
I still have to upgrade the IC electric pump. Due to misinformation I actually upgraded the heating system auxiliary pump. I "just" have to swap them.

I do notice a difference with performance. The car seems to pull better.
Having said that I cleaned out my intercoolers and they were pretty badly clogged so having clean ICs must make a difference.
I have added an oil catch can to see if that will help slow down the clogging process. Whenever possible I use Shell V power as well.
When I first drove my car after all the work I was quite disappointed especially as the transmission did not want to make up its mind what gear it wanted to be in!
With the pedal hard down the transmission would upshift then downshift again and would do this a couple of times.
I did a so called hard reset with the battery leads and that made a world of difference with the shifts from 1-2-3 happening at the red line smoothly.
I would like to get a remap/reflash from someone who knows what they are doing however I do not know of anyone in MD or MA (where I spend a good deal of time).

You have to take them off for a start.
Another member on this forum soaked them in a parts cleaner to clean them and that is probably the best way.
I do not have access to a parts cleaner so I "balanced" the ICs to try and get as much cleaning fluid in them to soak hours at a time several times.
You cannot position them so that all the internal "fins" are submerged unless you can effectively block either the inlet our outlets.
I then used carb cleaner to spray them out until the fluid came out clean.
That was a lengthy process. Mine were at 105,000 miles but I wonder at what mileage the crud actually made them very inefficient. Certainly way sooner than 105,000.

In order to at least slow down the oil based build up in the intercoolers I have installed an oil catch can in the full load breather pipe.
In a while I will see if any oil is captured.
I will be installing a smaller oil catch can, designed for a Corvette, in the low load breather pipe. Not expecting much oil there but we will see.

I used something especially for removing carbon deposits from engine components it may well have contained acetone. It was not cheap and was a brown color.
I cannot for the life of me remember who the manufacturer was. It came in a tub with a holder inside to take small engine components.
I believe I got it at Walmart in their auto section.
